Good morning Guardians, I hope you're all well, and I'll echo Leon's words on US Memorial Day. The holiday here today is just called 'Spring Bank Holiday', but it's the old Whitsuntide or Whit Monday. When I was a boy, it was still a time when children would be given new clothes, and there were all sorts of parades. I guess that relates to the event I hope to attend today. Typically, the weather is being uncooperative however, with a forecast of increasingly heavy rain throughout the day. It was raining when I got up, but currently, at just approaching 9.00am, the sun is trying to break out. I guess we'll seeEnjoy your day Guardians

Good morning Guardians. Cloudy start to the day here in southern coastal NC. Hoping for some rain because it has been dry for awhile. Still recovering from my adventure with the oral surgeon but slowly improving. Have my HHB with me today.

I was having the same conversation with a neighbour, and we had to agree that the quality of the journalism has certainly contributed towards the decline of printed newspapers here. That is true, even of the nationalsThe paper I used to read, and occasionally write for, sacked its longstanding cartoonist a couple of years back, despite him being rated as one of the best here
Superb pic Will
Nice to see Steve![]()

Natty bowlerMitchI was watching something last night, and it was claimed that the most common style of hat in the old American West was actually the Bowler - or 'Derby' - rather than the Stetson
LOL!There's an old joke shop in Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast, which claims to have invented the chicken joke!

Food of the Gods!Tomatoes and pasta =
Makes sense about bowler/derby being the most common. Majority of immigrants were city or town dwellers and would already have a hat or headwear of choice.
Love that sign must be an interesting shop.
Have a great day.
Great photo my friendEarning that glorious holiday pay today. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

I don't find those items puzzling at all; and I live in Canada!!Good morning, Guardians, as we in the U.S. observe Memorial Day. It's sad that today people are still having to make this sacrifice. Here are a couple of valued items that some of my friends and family find puzzling.

That's a looker buddy
Nice pile side shot.Kids wanted to go fishing today so that means I had to tie up a bunch of weights for them to practice casting with first. Needless to say the string on these old kiddie poles is brittle and lasted all of 2 minutes. Oh wellOff to the real deal.
