It seems it rains every opening day on our State Fair, never fails!lolGood morning Guardians, I haven't checked the forecast, but it's not looking very summery outdoors. We have our annual Carnival at the weekend, so I hope it brightens up again. In the meantime, I reckon I better wear a jacket to the market. Have a great day Guardians

Beautiful choice Dave!Wow! I don’t even remember where my jackets are at this point in the Texas summer, Jack.Good Thursday morning, Guardians. A photo of Max Sao’s Stagfeather to start the day…View attachment 2956032
Very nice photo Kurt, the wood almost looks like safety orange!Patrick the bone on yours is great. Beautiful.
Well I’m in before the Jack’s Market Report which is fortuitous. Jack if Tool Man gives you his business card beware. I’d take that as an ominous sign…maybe. Beware the Hungry Reaper. Could be some weird Teddy Boy cult. Do not put him in your will. Bump him if so and I’ll send you my addy.
Hope Kind Shirley is doing well.

You certainly have a colorfully named group of friends Jack! It's been so quiet on the market recently, Tool Man is actually thinking of calling it a day, though he has been saying the same most of the time I've known him. Still, he had barely had a sale in the 3 hours I was down there. Nobber Al was knocking again, as he very often does. Likewise the Perfume Fatties, and a bunch of the other regular traders. When I arrived, Gravel was there, for the first time in several weeks, and Scooby made a brief return visit. I had a chat with Captain Birdseye, and Golden Gordon, and Big J, Harry Hotballs, and Slimline Scott all passed by. Boring Ray didn't have a single sale while I was there. Tool Man took his time eating a steak slice, and Ray and Gravel had one two, and we shared a bit of cake. Tool Man reprimanded Boring Ray for telling one of his terrible jokes, which I thankfully didn't hear. I did hear, "Mundo [as in Raymundo], you first told me that joke in 1975! It wasn't funny then, nor on any of the other hundred occasions you've told it since!" Ray, totally resigned to being boring, simply apologised. Once again though, it was a very uneventful morning, and the only real character who we spotted was a strange-looking 'cowboy', wearing a huge hat, 2 dramatically different boots, dude pants and shirt, and straddling an odd-looking walking stick, which he rode at a slow trot, absolutely mad as a box of frogs!

After saying farewell, I went to get a bit of shopping, then called in at Charlie's for coffee and a pastry. I have a zoom meeting later, and hopefully Wolfie is going to call round for a bit. I hope everyone is having a great day![]()
Nice photo David, the textures really make a neat contrast!Morning Guardians! Sounds like you had a good day at the market today JackStill hot and humid around here. Happy trails

Leave it up to politicians and governments to mess up a good thing!Possibly the funniest thing were the boots, which he had his pants tucked into, they weren't just different colours, they were completely different boots!I don't know if he has another pair at home like that
It's very sad the way that the city council have deliberately sabotaged it, the process started a long time ago, but all the traders know its in its final stages now![]()

Glad we got a second shot of that one!Thank you I agree! It's actually horn.
Thank you Steve.
Me too Bob, and the texture keeps it from sliding out of my pocket when I'm wearing gym shorts or slacks.
Thanks Jack, it's a ham for sure!
Sad to hear Jack, enjoy it while you can.
Bonus pic

Why they have the carnival at the end of August, rather than July, is lost on me
![]()
Thanks buddy, I have a number of their flashlights, but the pen is a first, and I'm pleased with it. It's very light and slim, and has a pencil, as well as a ballpoint
LOL!
That market crowd are a colourful bunch DennisHere's a recent pic of Harry Hotballs (Right) with Gravel, he was recently squaring up to another pensioner of the same age!

You are not having a good run again.Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is well, and ready for the weekend. I'm not sleeping too good again, which I think is just down to my sleep apnoea, or my hiatus hernia, or bothI called in at the docs the other day to try and make an appointment to get a referral, but after standing there for 10 minutes, watching the receptionist studiously ignoring the 2 people in front of me, I went for coffee instead
As it's the Carnival weekend here, (something else the Council are trying to steal), and a 4 day weekend, I need to stock up a bit, as Sunday and Monday, I won't be able to get out of the area at all, and Saturday will be busy too. My works meeting was brief, but positive, last night, and at at some point I have some work to do, but I'm not sure when it's going to come in, hopefully not when I've been drinking rum!
I hope your Friday goes well Guardians
