Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I suspect your father's trout basket may be a creel like this Bob? In shape and size at least

When I used to go trout fishing I used to use a creel like this, but the most common type of fishing in Britain is what is called Coarse Fishing, that's fishing for what the rich folk regard as the less noble species, and it's done from the river bank with a line and a float (or bobber). Since anglers spend their days sat on their behinds all day, they traditionally used a larger, rectangular basket, (today they generally use more modern designs), like the one below. I received one as a Christmas present when I was about 12, but rarely suffered from the condition I mentioned, because my father would take the basket, and I had to sit on the ground

I haven't been fishing for 50 years, but hope to return to it one day ;)
Jack, your creel is just like my father's. We did not get to sit, but stood in the water wearing our waders.
When fishing on the shore of the Atlantic, for stripers,we would bring portable chairs. Some people would drive their trucks on the beach and sit on the tailgate.

Very interesting Bob :) I fished for trout like that. and for pike in the winter. When I was a kid, I thought that fishing was about catching big fish, I didn't realise what it was really about :) I was looking through a fishing periodical about 20 years ago, and fishing styles had completely changed here, they have adopted French techniques to a great extent, half of the nomenclature I didn't understand, but I guess you can still catch fish in the 'old-fashioned' way if you set your mind to it ;)

The market always seems like a field trip for a sociology class.😂
I feel like Henry Morton Stanley going up the Congo Bob, but hopefully I treat the people I come across more kindly (whether they deserve it or not) ;)
Coming from you, that's a real compliment, Jack!!
Thank you Charlie, I consider the Ebony Lamb you sent me to be one of the most elegant knives I own :)

Cane in hand, lamb in pocket, I am ready to take on...going back inside and sleeping some more. I'm banged up and it's 95 F out here, why am I even outside?

Good morning Guardians, I was awake early here, and am just having a cup of tea. There's no point going out for a couple of hours yet, but then I'll head down to the market, via Charlie's cafe. Too early to say what the weather is going to be like, but it's not raining at least :) I hope you all have a great day
