Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is well, and busy having a good weekend

I got back from my short, but intense, trip to London, about 10 o'clock last night, and I am still feeling worn out!

Friday, was a long, and pretty hard, work day, sandwiched either side by 2 days of foot-slogging, and travel, and on Thursday, it rained all day. My hotel was nice enough, and did a good breakfast. It was situated south of the River Thames in an area, Bermondsey, where visitors to London where specifically told not to go, as late as the turn of the 21st century. It is now very different though, and property here costs an absolute fortune. After having lunch on Friday, I discovered that my hotel was just a short walk away from the oldest surviving pie and mash shop in London, and felt I had to visit.
(Not my photo)
Pie and mash is an old working-class London tradition, and there were once thousands of these shops, but they are very much a London thing, and we don't have them up north, where we prefer chips with our pies, and gravy, rather than the 'liquor' (these days, a type of parcel sauce), they serve with them. I really felt I needed to call in, particularly after I had spoken to the nice Cockney ladies who work there. I arranged to meet an old friend, who grew up in Bermondsey in the late 1950's, and hurried back from work to meet him.

My mate had pie, mash, and liquor, but when I was asked "Liquor?" I said I'd prefer gravy

Both of the serving ladies seemed genuinely saddened that I preferred gravy, and made me promise to try their liquor on my next visit

If you want to see more of Manze's Pie & Mash Shop, there are plenty of videos on YouTube, and they launched
their own channel a few days ago. I really enjoyed my visit, and the staff were absolutely lovely
I sure have missed carrying my Lambsfoot, and now I'm back I thought I'd treat myself to a Double Lambsfoot Day!

Enjoy your Saturday Guardians, and have a great weekend
