I hope everyone is having a good day. When I went out, it was still a bit too early for Charlie's cafe, so I hopped on a bus into town, and managed to buy the last 2 ciabatta rolls from the bread stall in the market.
Our Cake Man has some sort of infection in his elbow, which he thinks might be from a tick bite. He was at the hospital for 11 hours yesterday, where they pumped him full of antibiotics, but he refused advice to stay in, fearing the partial loss of his cake takings today. I bought some cake off him, but when I got to the tool stall, Tool Man said he was eschewing cake to save his teeth. He happily wolfed down the samosas I had also taken.down.
Tool Man was alone when I turned up, as Boring Ray is away on the annual family holiday. They have gone to Whitby, which is actually rather adventurous.
After an hour of non-stop solo Tool Man, I was beginning to whilt a little, and thankful when Gravel turned up to shoulder some of the burden. I decided to go to get some coffees, and when I returned Harry Hotballs made a brief appearence.
Next to appear was Sheep's Head Dave's missus, sans Sheepsfoot Dave. Her brother passed away a couple of years ago, and she still occassionally brings down some of his old clobber for Boring Ray to sell. Since he wasn't there, Tool Man said he'd hang onto it until next week. The collection included this incredible (and incredibly tacky) pair of shoes!
Just after the 2 hour mark, with Tool Man already cajoling Gravel into buying him Chinese for lunch again, I decided it was time to head off. Tool Man accompanied me through the market so he could buy himself a steak slice to stave off starvation
Back home with a piece of Tool Man's unwanted cake
