Good morning Guardians, sounds like it's been a hot week for most of us, so I hope you all get to put your feet up with a cold one over the weekend. I'm still feeling worn out, but I have lots to do. My new urologist says caffeine is an irritant and I should stop drinking a pot of coffee and a pot of tea every day.
Again, I can't complain about my health adventures. I'll buy some half-caff coffee and use a smaller teapot.

After leaving Charlie's, I went into town, bought some bread, and had lunch at the Tunisian stall in the market



I walked up the hill to the bank, and then called in the supermarket to get a few things for the supermarket, before meeting Wolfie for coffee in the bookshop cafe

When we moved into this home 36 years ago, (on 1 Aug 1990) I put up a Humming Bird feeder and had our first "Customer" in about 20 minutes. Here in Western Washington State the Humming Birds stay all year long, Now I have a covered rear deck with the feeder under the roof and they come everyday. John

Thanks buddy, I think about your loss of taste very regularly my friend, and empathise greatly I don't recall tasting Clos Foutet, but my memory is terrible these days. I've had Cheval Blanc a few times. This is pleasant enough, I might even open another bottle

Good grief John, that sounds terrible! I hope that nobody was seriously injured, and that you got a good night's sleep There was a train derailment here, probably for the same reason that caused the delay with my train

Jack, I only rode a train in England 2 times. The first was in 1975, from Greenham Common to London. First two trains that came by were full. The third train stops and I step on and as I remember it there were three steps to the main level. This train was also packed and I stood on the bottom step, with a women, two people on the second step too, standing room only, all the way to London. I kept my shoulder pressed against the side of the stairwell hoping the door would not come open when we were moving. At the head of the stairs was a door to the toilet and an man opened the door, but it was so crowded he could not get out and complained. I told him at least he had a seat to sit on. It was worth the ordeal as I got to visit the Imperial Military museum in London, and get a fish and chips when they still served it in an old sheet of newspaper. The trip back to Greenham Common was uneventful and I actually had a seat. John

Good grief John, that sounds like a very unpleasant journey, particularly for a man in military uniform. Nonetheless, I am pleased that you were able to have fish and chips in a sheet of newspaper, and to visit the Imperial War Museum (it was 1978 before I was able to visit for the first time myself). By coincidence, an old friend I met up with when I was in London, lives in a residential care home next to the Imperial War Museum. The museum was actually built above the historic Bedlam lunatic asylum, and apparently the old cells still exist underneath the museum. Where my friend, also John, lives, in the garden, there is a sign marking the boundary wall of the asylum. I was the subject of a film, which was shown in the museum a few years ago, but have not visited for many years. However, I hope to visit before too long, and will try to take some photos
