Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I had never thought that alley bowling predated plastic. I could really hurt myself trying to slice up a big lignum vitae ball. Thanks for your ancient lore too, Chin.

Still got my e-mail, Jack? I'd like to be on the list.

Thanks for the ancient lore, as always.

Would you mind PMing it me again please Jer? Thanks pal :)

The oldest sanctioned US bowling alley goes back to 1908 apparently, so they may have used wood, but the bowls Stan uses are used for bowling on greens, which goes back hundreds of years. The lignum vitae bowls look like this

Well, a bit like that! They're usually a bit more beat-up when Stan gets them! :D Odd balls can sometimes be bought very inexpensively at fleamarkets, and are a great source of wood

I'm conflicted. As you all know, I've been Every Day Carrying one of my Davison's for awhile, mainly because I would never consider selling them and they are pretty much bulletproof.

But, the Lambfoot graciously gifted to me by Jack keeps calling to me. Maybe I need to start carrying two knives regularly?

I fell into the double EDC habit a while back Alan, I could easily end up like GT! :D

Two blades are better than one! ;) If I'm carrying a single blade lambsfoot, I'll generally pair it with something like a Peanut or small pen knife. It's nice to have options of different sizes and shapes.

Yes, the same here in as much that I'll try to pair it with a different pattern, be it a penknife or something with a Clip or Spearpoint blade for example

Hope everyone has a great weekend

No chance of a hike today :( But did get to walk through my local park at least ;)

There is that stunning stag again! And something tasty lurks in the background of that first pic...

Hope you've had a fantastic hunt, and weekend out, Dylan.:)

Here's a pic of my treasured Unity Lambsfoot, out and about this weekend in a Banksia tree.

Thank you, @Cambertree. I had a most wonderful time and though I didn't manage to harvest any animals myself other than a couple of wild grouse, my buddy's teenage son managed to bring down his first animal, a young bull elk! So we got to help process and pack out that animal. I had fantasies about skinning out an elk with a lambsfoot knife but in reality that is probably the one task that such a useful blade is ill suited for...

I can't tell you how much fun it is to engage a bull elk in the rut. They are vocal, angry, and just plain gorgeous to see in their prime. Much of my time was spent playing with a couple bulls that ended up being smarter than folks tend to give them credit for, so they get to live on for now. Archery hunting has its advantages and disadvantages but I wouldn't trade those disadvantages for anything, the experience overall wouldn't be what it is otherwise.

No pics of Linus in action unfortunately, I was much too busy having fun....:(

Your Unity Lambsfoot is a beautiful knife. What I find particularly intriguing is the bone covers sitting considerably proud of the bolsters, is that normal?

Like what r8shell r8shell and Jack have stated, two knives are better than one. :D

I tend to carry 2 or 3 on my person as well and I try to carry a good mix of blade shapes for maximum utility. I am currently seeking a quality pen knife that I can pair with my lambsfoot, but in the meantime, a medium stockman or even my #25 with its spear point make for a terrific companion to my straight edged preference of a main knife.

Linus is developing a nice patina, though you can't tell from the picture. Raining like crazy right now which, though very welcome, doesn't make it easy to take good pics.

Yes, lamb pairs well with unicorn. ;)

Glad to hear you had a fantastic weekend Dylan, and congratulations to your friend's son, bow-hunting, (archery in general in fact), is a fascinating sport I think :) Nice to see Linus, though I know what you mean about lighting, I find taking indoor pics terrifically difficult. Hope you get some fine weather soon :)
