Guess who owns an RC-4 now? (prepare to be surprised!)

...the owner/chairman/whatever his official title is of the Levi jeans company came into the shop the other day (not too uncommon to see people like that in Bar Harbor--we had the former owner of the Double Bubble bubblegum company in a few weeks ago) and he picked up a crap load of awesome knives, including our most expensive (a SOG/Kiku Mitsuda piece, MSRP $2500) and a BM Gold Class as well as some other odds and ends.

He came in again yesterday looking for a good camping and woods knife, and I directed him in the direction of the RC-4 which he happily purchased! Also picked up a BM Rukus, but that's hardly even worth mentioning compared to the RC-4! :D I've been doing my part to spread the word and get us a few more members of the RAT Pack, and have been telling folks when they purchase them to log on here and give us a shout. It's good to know that when I wear a pair of Levi's the owner of the company carries a RAT! :p:thumbup:

He say where he was going with all that hardware? Sounds like a cool commercial in the works...might have to look into some levi's, need some new jeans anyway, and if he owns a RAT I guess I can at least look, lol

I wont wear them. Please correct me if I'm wrong , but I had heard a long while ago that part of their proceeds go to anti-gun orgs.

I haven't owned or worn their stuff in years because of the wierd things they support. Maybe they've changed for the good in the past few months, hope so anyway.

Interestingly enough, the former owner of Double Bubble who was in the shop now owns a miniature car museum (that was featured at one point on the sunday morning news!) and had pictures of his gun VAULT (not "safe"!) on his Iphone and shared them. The dude could have armed a small nation with all of the crazy stuff he had! Everything was mint or near mint, and he had everything you can imagine, including antique WW2 machine guns and spy guns like wrist watches, pens, and canes. What a cool guy! :D

No, the Levi's fellow didn't say where he was going with it, but he seemed like a cool enough fellow. And he didn't mind all of the ultra-realistic competition airsoft guns we had on the walls, so I can't imagine he'd be the one responsible for funding anything anti-firearm. May be wrong, but that's just not the vibe I got.

daaamn, the boss man bought a lot of knives at once huh? He's a knife nut! Did you ask him if he collects these or what?

He seemed as though he was interested in collecting them, but like it may have been something he had only picked up recently. He didn't know much about different steels, handle materials, or makers, but he was really super interested! :D

You should have pointed him here to the forums. I know I've learned pretty much everything I know about knives here and on a couple other forums :)

Thanks for the post, 42. That's good stuff!

No prob, cap'n! :D How could I NOT share that? I gave him the shop's card with the forum address on it, so he may show up here at some point!

That is rather interesting, although I never wear jeans of any sort. Only jeans in the family besides the women are Carharts.

I switched back to Wranglers many years ago after seeing the moonbeam type agenda this San Francisco company has promoted. Maybe, they are changing but I doubt it. He got a great knife, that's for sure.

Levi Strauss has historically been anti-gun but that does not necessarily mean that a particular executive for the company is, etc. You shouldn't buy from them because they are a bunch of globalists. :)

Yet when a company like Levi, with a reputation for good management and strong relations with employees, finally turns out the lights in the United States, it might be an occasion to measure the human toll, here and abroad, of the flight of garment industry jobs--and to remember that it's happening so that American consumers, who buy more clothing than any people in history, can get a shirt for $20 instead of $25.

A shirt that is a damned sight thinner than they used to be when Made in America as well. Same with their pants.

It's a small shop in Bar Harbor called Jekyll and Hyde. We sell a bunch of different stuff--everything from knives, optics, and airsoft to biker leather, nice jewelry, and women's clothes. I'm the assistant manager of the cutlery/optics side. My manager...manages...the business end of things, and I'm the resident sharp stuff guru. He's a knife knut, but not enough to be a forum member. He's too busy playing D&D. :D Yes we're all geeks on our side, in one way or another. :D
