Gulf Coast assistance - Part Deux

Paul, thanks for mentioning that! Since we are posting the MSRP of the knives, that is quite appropriate.

El Lobo, can you post some thumbnail pictures of Paul's work? I would like to see more, including a link back to the post you refered to, but I am not able to post thumbnails...yet. If I can figure it out, I'll edit those other pics down to thumbnails.

I have to attend my wife's Grandfather's funeral this morning, but I'll check back in when I return. I'll also see if I can dig up my production info on the knives donated so far to augment what Andrew found.

El Codger (Fixed One)...

Here is the thread where Paul first came to visit all of us.....

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=360234

And you so deftly handled his question. ;)

About 2/3 of the way through, I extol the quality of Paul's work...especially a certain rattlesnake inlaid sheath...the very one you posted a picture of for us!! :D

Here is a link to another forum where some of his work (and the gentleman himself) is available for your viewing pleasure.....

http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30358

Forum content: This place has been quite busy, probably busier than when Schrade was still crinking...er, ah, CRANKING out knives.
A bit ironic, but I'm still amazed at how much good information is shared here.

Bill

I would like to ask a question about the sheaths. Is there a time limit on when Paul will need to know what kind of knife he is making the sheath for? The reason I am asking is that I would like one of the folder sheaths for a knife I will be making in the future, near future I hope but we all know how that goes. This may seem petty but I am just curious.

Donavon

You donate to the worthy cause.....and win a sheath, and I will make it for you ANY time you're ready. I sent Codger some more pictures which may be of some help to you guys as far as the possibilites of design. I am very flexible with regard to when they are made. Having said that, when you do decide on what you want, and let me know, you can expect shipping within 48 hours maximum.

Paul

You guys are great.

I guess I'll mention that Banco Nacional de Mexico (where I work) has set up an account to receive donations in Mexico and made an initial deposit of 1 million US dollars, the Mexican Red Cross is taking donations in an account in another bank here. This is destined to help the Mexicans in the USA affected by Katrina.

My daughter had first aid training at the Mexican Red Cross and I always donate there. Sad to say that I have not seen as much public participation as in other more local situations though.

Luis

Thankyou for the information Don Luis. I was pretty sure that Mexico was providing or going to provide assistance. Generosity during a disaster knows no borders.

Here is one of Paul's pictures. I'll post more as time goes by. Some very nice sheaths!

I had this funny urge to edit this post and add another picture, though I don't know why. Well, here it is, now excuse me while I go round up some scorpions for supper.

P.S.
That does NOT count as groveling...does it?

Main Entry: grov·el
Pronunciation: 'grä-v&l, 'gr&-
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -eled or -elled; -el·ing or -el·ling
Etymology: back-formation from groveling prone, from groveling, adverb, from Middle English, from gruf, adverb, on the face (from Old Norse A grufu) + -ling
1 : to creep with the face to the ground : CRAWL
2 a : to lie or creep with the body prostrate in token of subservience or abasement b : to abase oneself
3 : to give oneself over to what is base or unworthy : WALLOW <groveling in self-pity>
- grov·el·er /-v&l-&r/ noun
- grov·el·ing·ly /-v&l-i[ng]-lE/ adverb
-Schrade grov·el·ing / giving oneself over to shameless begging on a collector forum for knives, pictures of knives, sheaths, or pictures of sheaths : LOBO <a harmless comic relief usually intended as an attempt at jocularity, i.e. not to be taken too seriously, but occasionally pandered to (see also CODGER)

:D ;)

Sniffle,sniff.....oh, the horror.
The secret is out for all to see, and woe is me... :(

And, furthermore:
What kinda "New Age Slang" dictionary is that from!! I resemble that remark.

Bill

P.S.
I don't think we're allowed to do that pandering thing here in the open.

Missed the last one so I'll get in on this one. $100 sent to the Red Cross via Amazon.

If those folder sheath's will fit a LM Charge that would be awesome.

Gizmo,

Paul will make you one that will fit. They are "Custom" sheaths.

Your donation is wonderful.

G1ZMO, they are custom made to fit YOUR knife. Paul will let you know what he needs from you to make it fit (a tracing and diminsions, a zerox, or the knife). IF I am lucky enough to get one, I'll be sending him my knife. Your contribution will be added to the list next revision.

Codger

Gizmo: I can do it! It would be great to have the knife, but I have worked from a 100% xerox copy of profile with demension notes (blade thickness, scale thickness noted several places on the copy, with success.

Paul

Edit: I just read your post with my glasses and notice it is a folder.
I ordinarily only take folder orders through EL LOBO. (just kidding). Any way the same still applies from above but obviously I dont need blade thickness.
The post above applies to Fixed Blade sheaths.

A note: With just a tiny drop of isocyanuriate (Crazy glue), a folding knife becomes....FIXED!!! :D (works on cats too) ;) (crazy glue El Lobo, Crazy glue!) :D

Dang !!!

Now I'll have to increase my pledge to $60 on a folder sheath! :-)

Sorry El Lobo, guess I'll have to supply the Scotch now, eh???

C'mon folks...bid on the beautiful knives!! (he,he,he).

A note to the note writer.....
Hold me back, don't make me do this.....with just a drop of goofy glue, your fixed blade becomes...

FIXED in the sheath. (he, he, he) :D

Cougar: If I see a donation pledge of 75.00 I'll add another sheath, either fixed or folder. Come on back in Lobo! Guys, keep your perspective on this. You're not "buying" a knife or sheath. You are helping somone who desperatley needs it right now and in so doing you could get a rebate on you generosity in the form of a knife or sheath. This time it just might be Okay to "over paY" for an item. Keep the good thought.

Paul

Of course I am going to raise my pledge on the fixed sheath as the auction
nears ending. Now that I think about it maybe I'll make split pledges for the
fixed sheath and the folding sheath, that rattlesnake hide would look great
on a multi tool pouch btw.

I hope I have a good next 10 days at work, this is getting interesting.

That was slick Willie! (an undisguised Clinton pun for those of you who aren't up on history)

El Lobo, you know that you really want that genuine Paul Long Custom Sheath for your favorite folder. Heck, I'd like to have one for most of my knives! I'll have to settle for just one of them however. Having the buzz-tail insert sheath, how can you pass up a matching folder sheath? Hmmm.. I wonder if I can get wooly mammoth hide for the inserts on mine?
