"Gun Broker" any good?

Many years ago you could get some really good deals on guns, but not so much anymore.

You can find some rare and hard to find guns on there, and you can find some deals once in a while too.

You have to shop a bit harder, pay attention to feedback, etc, but there are some good deals to be found. The no sniping policy is nice; it cuts down on the BS a bunch.

FWIW I had a buddy who bought a few times through them. He stopped doing business with them due to some problematic transactions.

I have been buying and selling on gunbroker for many years (since 2002). I never had a problem, but with anything that you buy sight unseen, you have to be careful. Check the feedback. What is the return policy?

When you bid on something don't forget to add shipping cost and whatever your dealer is going to charge for accepting delivery and for paperwork. If you are thinking of buying a new or used firearm that is still readily available, you will probably not save any money over buying it locally. It is wise to find a dealer who will handle the transaction BEFORE bidding.

Some people sell their junk on gunbroker, just like on eBay, and you are trusting them to sell you an expensive item based on their description and pics. Check their feedback and return policy. Pay with a credit card if possible. You can get some great deals there, but there are a few con artists and idiots as well -- same as anywhere else.

I've purchased hundreds of guns online with mostly good results.

Like any online seller, the educated buyer gets the best results. As said above, check feedback, check shipping costs, and check how much your receiving FFL is going to charge you for the transfer. Put a number on the gun, the maximum you want to pay including all of the above and don't exceed it. If you have any questions, ask them well in advance of the auction closing and see how you like the answers. No answer, don't buy.

As in most auctions, live or online there are very good deals and very bad deals everyday. Most are in the middle, but in general I'd say that prices on gunbroker will be higher than you can obtain the same gun for at a good gun show, but who knows how many gun shows you would have to attend to find that particular gun.

If it's a hard to find item Gunbroker can be great. But if it's current production I've found that other online retailers are almost always a better deal, especially when you add in shipping costs.

Just like with ebay, do your homework! Read seller reviews, communicate any questions/concerns to the seller before bidding. Take as much risk out of what is basically a "sight unseen" transaction as you can.

That being said, I've always had great luck with Gunbroker and will not hesitate to use them again.

beware of what you buy on gunbroker,it is not like ebay,i have bought a lot of used guns that needed parts or just plain abused...

it is a good place to find old guns, but in my area old guns are every where...

I've both bought & sold on GunBroker..no real problems yet. Research your future purchase. For the time being, purchasing out-of state saves on some sale tax, but you incure shipping costs, plus the transfer fee for an ffl. Twice I was shipped an incorrect firearm, but the sellers paid the return postage. Once I bought a new in the box Remington model 7 for $400...but those deals are few and far between...and you have to spend a lot of time doing price comparisons.

I have bought a few guns on Gunbroker and had positive results every time so far. I was able to get a rifle that I would have probably never have been able to find locally. Decent prices too, although I do live in California so, just about any out of state price is better than I would pay here...

I've bought and sold there and never had a problem. 2 years ago when I was looking for an older Walther PPK made by Interarms [the newer S&W to me is inferior] I found 5 that were listed as excellent, and the one I bid on and won is still one of my favorites.

I've bought several guns from there over the years. No problems and the people I dealt with were good & honest.

So far, only parts, but I keep looking so I know what the going rates are for when shopping at home in CA. I get discouraged when I see a gun I want, and they won't ship to CA, even though the gun is legal in CA. Their choice and they have their reasons, but it just bums me out. I wish they bolded the No ship to CA, so I do not spend time reading. I have a heavy appetite right now for firearms.

I buy as well as do some selling there and have never had but one problem.
I won an auction for a Protech and the guy never held up to his end of the
deal. I never paid as he never tried to contact me about making the
arrangements for the deal to start with. He has since been banned, but its
just like any other place, and that is you just need to watch yourself and
try to keep in touch with the buyers and / or sellers. Most are great to deal
with, but you do have a few that will come along and try to stick it to you.
I have noticed this a bunch with the Pawn shops that sell there. Not trying
to throw off on pawn shops, but many seem to price their products well
above the norm. Just my two cents and nothing more!!
