Gun for conceal carry

I'd rather have someone repeatedly hit me in the head with a hammer than push load after load of .357's down the barrel of an Airweight. Punishing little guns, but at 15 ounces this is expected. The .38 +P can be a good SD load with the proper bullet, and is not nearly as bad for recoil.

I'm looking into a M360. Scandium, 1 7/8", .38 +P and only 13 ounces. Bud had one recently for a little over $ 400 NIB with a set of slightly bigger combat grips.

Now that sounds promising. Lemme know how that turns out.

As for the airweights, I've just never got to handle one. Your description made me laugh though and painted a good picture for me, reminding me of another not so great experience, ha ha! Maybe I'll by-pass 'em.:p

gibbyx, I've been looking at the LCR too. Like you, I want some production and user time before buying one. Especially after the LCP fiasco.

I switch between a M37, M60 and SP101. The SP is by far the strongest of the three, and eats full load .357 without a problem.

It seems like pretty much every Ruger that is newly introduced gets a recall, even as far back to the Mini-14.

It seems like pretty much every Ruger that is newly introduced gets a recall, even as far back to the Mini-14.

Got a brand spanking new Ruger Redhawk in 1981, its cylinder timing was so far off it almost shaved projectiles in half on some chambers.:mad:Swapped it for the tried and tested Super Blackhawk those timing was like that of a good mechanical Swiss watch.:)

But not to beat up on just Ruger, I also brought new very early production S&W 586 .357mag whose barrel was screwed into the frame at an angle so acute that even with the sights adjusted all the way to the left it was impossible to put a shot on a slow-fire 25yard Bullseye target. It to was returned and replaced by a pinned barrel older S&W Model 28.

So maybe it would be a wise move to wait a tad to see how things work. Being on the technological bleeding edge may be ok with computers but I doubt few would trust it with self protection firearms.

In general it seems in this day and age to wait a bit for any new gadget. I remember when the Razor cell phone was the big craze. Then there was a wave folks saying how it was junk. Then I got one cuz it was cheap, and it worked for two years and is still going strong.

Dead on SPX. I still see an SP in my future but that LCR really has me excited. Like a new car model though, I'd rather drive it myself after the bugs get worked out.

As for the LCP, I have no experience, I just saw the recalls. But if you look at the revolver Ruger has put together, it seems kinda like simplicity redefined, ya know? I just hope it tests out good. .38 hots are good enough for a belly gun but I do love my Magnum. I think I paid $ 260ish for my GP100 back in '89and that thing is like gold to me.

But, back on topic. I am really excited about the LCR. If it doesn't pan out I'll go with the 101. I'm trying to downsize and need something a little more compact than my GP and, for MY requirements/needs/tastes, I want to stay with a wheelgun for CC. I also want to look at the S&W Airweights??? I think it is. No experience with those either.

I'm excited about the LCR also... in time, I can see it replacing my SP101.

Depending on clothing, I carry my Glock 19 with the SP101 as a back up, OR my SP101 and my LCP as a back up.

In the hottest days of summer I might have just the LCP... the thing is so small it won't print in the pocket of a pair of swim trunks! (unless you are a Speedo kinda' guy:D).

I also carry my Glock or SP101 in a Tommy's Gun Pack quite often in hot weather.

If I need to go into "REALLY DEEP, DEEP CONCEALMENT" I'll put any one of those guns in my Thunderwear (if anyone should ever question the little bulge in the front of my shorts... I'll just say "thanks for noticing!:D")

Springfield Armory XD 9mm subcompact, I carry one and Can't even tell it's on my side all day.............

I carry a post recall LCP. Very slick. I keep it in a Blackhawk Size one pocket holster. You don't even know that it is there in your pocket

Of course, I had to get the Crimson Trace laser for it. ...beats aiming.

340 SC with Crimson Trace, 158 grain .38 Buffalo Bore wadcutters. Can't really imagine carrying anything different as a pocket gun.

I carry the Keltec P3ATin my pocket or my small Kahr PM9 on the waist.Or in my waist pack an HK P2000SK.
