Gun for Open Carry while HIking and Home Defense... Revolver?

I dont carry concealed any more, however there are things ive noticed and things people always say that will follow. A revolver cylinder is large and effects concealibility and comfort while concealed and can effect the draw, hanging on clothing. Ive carried both and noticed the difference. As with any discussion of wheel vs auto I must say without considerable practice and understanding of the failure protocol one must choose wheel. Most auto owners ive known dont know Tap Rack Bang, much less Rip Work. Once again the casual shooter will be served best by a revolver in which the failure protocol is pull the trigger again. If Ptta dosent work for a wheel the alternatve is call your gunsmith and call time out:). Wait call time out first you dont want the guy tryin to kill you shooting you while you are on the phone. Seriously Ive argued this for years and that is why a wheel gun is in my bedroom because I havent practiced Failure on the range in a while. I carried 3 weapons for years, GP100, Sig 226, Baretta. I feel very confident to hit what im aiming at with any of them but without regular practice i dont want a stove pipe or what ever killing my family.

Which revolver? GP100 for me. IMHO it is the best all round revolver in .357 that was made and I love it. I own a Redhawk in 44mag and I have it because it was sold to me for a song. The owner was an idiot who had an accidental discharge that penetrated his wall, water heater, outside wall and the resting point was never found. He became afraid of guns and sold them all.:jerkit: the world thanked him. So in conclusion best for for home defense is what you will hit with. on the news years ago i saw an evil man killed like six people and injured many more with a 22. Choose a weapon and practice. Own more guns for fun but dont wake up and spin a wheel to choose which gun to carry today, you will fail when it counts most.

Bear.... The following is the opinion of someone who has never hunted bear. I believe pepper spray works better on bear than any fire arm. Many bears are trained by conservationist and rangers ETC to respect and fear the spray so you dont even have to hit them with the spray to get the desired objective of "bear leaves". This is of course based on bear defense not "bring us back some bear meat Davie." and of course a cone of effect spreading out is more likely to "hit" the target than a laser line projected by firearm.

As for Concealed Carry (hince forth known as CC) equipment my opinion is the same as the arguement for the best weapon.... the best CC equipment is the stuff you are most proficient with. Example: Lowtec McCheapie has been carring his pistol in his waitband under his shirt for years and decides to upgrade to a quality CC system. My recommendation continue to lounge that pistol in his jeans with no system until he has drawn from the new system hundreds of times in practice. Makes sense?? If you have never CC'ed start with a good system.

kind of rambling now so if i missed anything let me know. I guess the most important thing I said is in bold.
