Gun & Knife Shows

I usually stay in the shadows, reading, watching all the wannabees of Bladedom or should I say Bladedumb come forward and comment for the world to see how ignorant they are. I am a BladeMan. I am the President of a small group of "Hard-Use" Knife Collectors known as BladeMen USA. We all have different backgrounds: Martial Arts, Military, Law Enforcement/Rescue Units, Professional Soldiers, Camping, Survival. Although I am in South Florida, we are spread across the USA due to where our lives lead us. You don't just join us, it's by invitation only. "Hard-Use" Knives are not knives you put up on a shelf and enjoy for their beauty. They are knives we depend on to do a job, complete a mission, or bring us home. Others collect for beauty and also have a place in our group as well, I respect what they see and the aspect of admiring and cherishing a piece of art. I own a Katana, over a 100 years old, I'm not taking it to the forest and using it as a machete. So I understand both sides of that coin. This leads me to Peter Lugo...

I met Him and his Wife back in April of this year. It was the Miami Gunshow. My nephew and I went for ammo, that's all. We walked around, this time there were more knife guys than I've seen before. My thoughts were: Great, more mass-produced crap that someone is going to think will change their lives, hurt themselves using for self-defense or ready themselves for the zombie invasion. Then I saw a few "Custom" knife makers. Due to my many years of knowledge on knife and steel types I become an ass and drill these guys with questions. I can pick them apart. Some become defensive, change the subject or tell me they have to get back to work, but there is nobody at their table. WTF. I am in my 50's, my nephew, best friend and shooting partner is in his 40's. We stopped at Peter Lugo's table. What a pleasant surprize. There he was, a humble guy, with his lovely wife, trying to make a decent living, selling below what his blades are worth and willing to talk knives, steel, about whatever, and most of all proud to discuss his craft in detail. He expalined his pattern welding Damascus, his reason for choosing wood, bone or micarta handles, the leather sheaths. This guy is very Real...

My nephew sees a knife, he apparently fell in love, he just kept going back to it. I'm thinking: He really is more of a gun guy. But, I'm watching him. He's made a connection with this knife. We leave Pete's table, saying we'll be back. As we walk my nephew keeps mentioning the knife. I'm spiritual when it comes to Blades. My Japanese Sensei taught me that the elements of this earth are here to serve us. Blades are forged from the earth and given a purpose. And they call you: Dont leave me here, I will serve you. And yes, sometimes too many call you. They become like old girlfriends, but maybe if you're lucky you'll meet the right one. We returned to Peter's table and there it was, still waiting. He offered us an even better price just cause we returned. The blade has a beautiful Damascus pattern, file work on the spine and a beautiful leather sheath. And no, it's not going on a shelf. It's a "hard-use" blade. Off to my left, something caught my eye. Something called me...

It was called a Peter-16, a skinner type knife. But it wasn't till the next gunshow, more than a month later, that I actually made it mine. It was on my mind all the time. As in all of Peter's knives, thick steel & an incredible damascus pattern. The handle was black micarta with perfect brass pins, fit smooth in the hand. The curve on the 3 & 3/4" blade said: "I'm just bad news waiting to happen. I'm not only hard-use, I'm just Hard. We can survive anything."
I asked Peter if he can make grooves in two areas, 6 on one and 7 on the other. It equals 13, an important # in my life or missions and martial arts. He said: No problem. Yes, he has a Real shop in some Miami warehouses where he creates magic. A few days later I had pictures on my phone. It was really my first Custom blade. And yes, it has been tested in water, mud, the elements. But, how's this... I put up a car door at a friend's body shop. It went through the door, more than once. No damage to the Blade. You can't pay me enough to say good things about anyone, I can't be bought. However, I'll do it for free if it's true. It's my word, my honor. P & C Custom is the real deal. Made in America, above average product, at a decent price. Hell, Go celebrate, and invite Peter and his Wife.

This is one of the funniest posts I've seen on BF so far. ....shrine to the mall ninja anyone?

You realise that personal attacks are not allowed outside of Whine and Cheese right?

Your .'collectors club' must have been left in the 80s because Google can find no such thing.

You are right. You won't find us on Google or facebook or any other media where people need to tell "all" to those who want to know all. Sorry, Private Group. We have been around since the 1970's, decided to form a group in the 1980's. Many of us still work in private environments. What brought us together is how our lives crossed and we all had one thing in common: Blades in use. Now as to a personal attack... isn't that what you were starting, hoping to get a following of comments attacking someone for writing honest posts. Really now?

nope and I'm calling bs on your club. I'll bet that when they trace your ip it'll be surprisingly similar to that of the vendor discussed.

Also you don't seem to understand the Internet.

You don't find things ON Google. You find things WITH Google. and if Google can't find it. ... in most cases it doesn't exist.

I pray that I get an invitation to be in the BLADEMEN club. Then I too can pretend to be macho.

Macho, macho man... I want to be a macho man.

How silly you guys are. If google doesn't find it, it doesn't exist? Really? Lol, I hope there are more like you, and look... there is. And please check the IP address, That was hysterical too. Thanks, I needed that. I was commenting seriously on a good knife maker, his craft and how he shouldn't have to defend his livelihood for offering a decent product, at a good price. Oh, and I looked you up WITH google, I guess you exist. I use a much better search engine, sorry... Private too. I wasted enough time here. Peace.

I'm closing this absurdity. I think everyone has gotten a good enough laugh for Labor Day. Also, if you don't like it here, there is no anchor tied to your butt, get up and move along, i can also issue a personal invitation for that if needed.
