Gun Picture Thread

Assuming you mean velocity. If so, I would not think there would be much of a difference. I would not think you target would know the difference between 800 and 850fps.
I would be curious how the 185's perform in the revolver

Yes - Exactly what I was wondering. And the 255's, too. I'm a little hesitant to use the latter in the 325 Scandium frame though (with Hillary hole).

But I'd need a Chronograph which I don't have. So maybe somebody else has a guess ?

The 255's would be a handful with that frame. However, if needed I doubt you would even notice them. A steady diet of them might not be the best for the frame or your hand, but a couple cylinders probably would not phase it or you.

Both Buffalo Bore and S&W both seem to think it's OK .... see, for instance, https://smith-wessonforum.com/threads/stop-scandium-scaring-crimp-creep-made-easy.494621/

I guess I'm just a little worried about the gun locking up when I need it. Lock-ups have been reported with the 44 Mag, 4" 329PD (much heavier load), and with the much shorter/lighter 325PD (earlier, here on BF even), never with my gun though, which - with standard 230gr - seems to be in safe recoil/lockup territory ....

Idle morning wonderings, please do not take too seriously :) I guess I just need to try and/or take the lock out.

So .... with a 4" revolver shooting moon clips, and without being able to measure myself, can I count on 5" semi-auto ammo measurements ?

Pretty much, give or take. Slight loss, compared to a true 5" barrel, due to gas escaping through the cylinder gap. But like RLB0414 RLB0414 said, not really enough to worry about.

And if you're worried about that Hillary Hole locking up with heavier loads (I'm pretty sure there's a joke in there somewhere....😇) then I'd recommend the lock delete kit from TK Custom. They're easy to install and then you never have to think about it again. 👍
