Guns & blades

Derrick I Haven't shot the 40cal shield but own the 9mm and it shoots great . I've heard the 40 can be a little snappy with the shield . As your self though I have no problem with the 40 with other guns . Here's my first trip to the range with the shield 7&10 yards 50rounds .

I've shot the 9. From my first time shooting it, even though I wasnt used to it, was able to talking it was consistent (with my very consistent trigger pull groupings lol). Not to mention everyone told me they were able to shoot it really well. So, I just said "eff it. Getting the 40. I have too many 9s. Feel happier with a 40 on hip anyways". But yea, 40 is snappy in general I've witnessed and been told, but this shield is wicked snappy. MAYBE I could get a grouping like yours when I'm that that close and really focusing, but move me back another 10, forget it. I'll be all over. Almost as bad as a 38snub that I only shot twice before.

All my hands guns I shoot 7 to 10 yards = 21 to 30 feet because most encounters will be even closers as the stats say anyway . So not sure what you consider close or what distance you choose but yeah just practice what you feel comfortable with . It's always better to start out "close" so you can see were your groups are and what your doing . As I'm sure you know placement is much more important then caliber size , carry and shoot what you are more accurate with . The ballistics on the 9mm are very good now with today's loads and rounds and as a matter of fact the FBI went back to the 9mm from the 40cal for reasons I mentioned and for higher capacity .

True. I know that I can quickly engage a target in the plate at about 15 to 20. Never see myself having to engage anything that for from me. I mean, you never know, but it's what I envision. If I am ever to fire my weapon with intent, it's because I'm on the ground, legitimately in fear, and using sights won't matter.

I have a slight remorse about getting the 40, but not about a shield. I live in Chicago, run a bar, a small grocery store, and a sandwich shop (within the store). I'm always schlepping around valuable$ at strange hours. Walk with a limp, sometimes bad and I need my cane. If I ever need to engage anyone, it's because someone is coming directly at me, as my leg makes me feel as a sitting duck walking out of a bar at 4am to hobble 2 or 3 blocks to my truck, then drive over to a convenience store, alone, still limping, with a back pack full of goods. The 40 makes me feel more at ease.

I really should go pick up a shield 9mm. I really did like that firearm. Also didn't know that there feds stepped back down. That was the primary reason for my liking of the 40. High-pressure round, but bigger.

...carry and shoot what you are more accurate with . .
I really wish my first, and dead accurate, one was what I can carry. It's my sr9. It lifts right into my line of sight. Only one I had for years, and shot it weekly minimum. It's just too big to tuck.

Practice makes perfect. Just got to play with my 40 more. Been busy though. Haven't got to target practice in over 3 months.
