Hahah yeah, what the hell were we talking about again?????
CANADIAN BEER RULES!!!!!
Open party for friends and all the pretty ladies.
:)

In some ways ..ys it got off topic..but in spirit it didn't..For unlike other tools,,the Gunting consists of a system... a way to do something as well as the individual tools themselves..one that actually involves other people and a way to deal with them..And learning the system is a multipul person experience..
Training in the air doesn't "cut" it..( no pun intended!)

As people learn about the tool, communication is important..
and its important to see that the Gunting instruction, that MBC instruction...that MBC Head Instructor Mike Janich..and the MBC Director..(my self that is)...are real people who care and actually WANT to share our knowledge with those interested..
THat it is not just buy the product..thank you go away now!

And at times that instruction or communication breaks down to just showing that we too are normal people..

The Gunting is an integral part of the SPYDERCO MBC Program..
Its a serious tool.
It has implications for the future of edged tools and impact tools..
If threads like this keep people interested..if threads like this make people friends and companions wanting to learn from each other..
its still on track..

I'm sure if there's other Gunting Questions etc..they will appear in this thread or one of these nice people will statt a new thread with a good question..

Like Mike MIGHT want to open a NEW thread about the TUSOK..
Is it coming? is it really a hybrid Kerambit-Mini Gunting..?
Is it really FRN glass filled resin with recessed liners?
Does it have a cool compression lock?
wow! does it have a radical deep belly blade with a sharpened little beak?

and to answer the other questions:
I don't drink
I don't smoke..anything
I don't do Drugs..

I DO eat sushi..
I doo eat Dim Sum..
oops I do Drugs I guess..I LOVE Coffee..
and I love teaching
I love steel..

be safe..

Bram

but has Steve taken you to Sun Sui Wah for dim sum...that place is a dimsum haven...expensive yes...but good...YES!!!

Well so far I like my Gunting a lot...Spyderco's QC is top notch and the G's fit and finish is superb. Can't wait to get the sheath now so that I can carry it more comfortably. Too uncomforatble just to carry with the clip.

I'm glad you love teahing Bram...'cos we have some eager to learn people over here!!!

Hopefully we can get enough people to get you down here. A Gunting seminar and then dim sum afterwards!!:)

i second that Sun sui wah place.
That place is always busy. Worth the wait though. Hmm maybe we should change this thread title to partying and dining tips in Vancouver.

Beer and party and FC Yuks's place then in the morning go for some Dim Sum, followed by some MBC training in the afternoon then repeat?

Gunting training.........For sure!!!!
Dim Sum........I'm game
Party at my house.........Gotta bring the ladies and beer tho!!!!!!

Back to the Gunting, as I read more and more about it. I get more and more excited about training. Especially the fact that one person's style is not the same as another, I'm really interested in adapting my Gunting into my own style.

Thanks all..
I appreciate the friendsip and openess you BC'ers show!!!
yes to Dim Sum..& great sushi..
yes to Vancouver...best place on the face of the earth..
yes to training..

Sigh, I was just poking around for some Gunting info and came across this thread and now I'm afraid I'll have to sell more stuff and get one. This is killing me.

Steve, I look foward to more information from you regarding personal safety.

BOK, I'm gonna have to see your Gunting when I come for another visit.

:)

Sure drop by anytime!

The more I use the Gunting and practice with it the more natural it seems.

Just remember to buy the red one too!

Hi all you Vancouverites, it's Kamloops here...

I noticed back in the middle of this thread that there was some mention of the G screws loosening off. The recommended fix was loctite. One should make sure to use the right colour though...

Now, I am the happy (sometimes...) owner of an Emerson cqc7, with the legendary ability to self-dissassemble. Part of the reason I like this knife is that it is *designed* so that the owner can dissassemble it. Still, it can be irritating to have to readjust the pivot screw after every 10 wave openings. I am a bit leery of loctite, so my solution was to remove the screw from the pivot, wrap a couple of wraps of teflon plumbers tape around it and snug it back together. It holds almost perfectly now, though I do adjust it a smidgen every week or so (takes about 2 seconds).

Just a thought.

Thanks all! This is making for a super Christmas!

BOK; you are correct. I nearly blew it..but I'm old you know..and I was running off @ the mouth and then aXed jumped on my ass to remind me..
She's really very cool! And shes really your friend for sure!
So I tried to correct any info damage i did..
Glad you like your Christmas Drone..

Be safe all of you..

Bram

sorry Coates,
we don't carry either or. But, We can do special orders. The only catch with special orders is that it can take some time to get in. Sometimes a month to 2 months. I wish we had better selection of Spydies:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: Another option you might wanna is

warriornorth.com

Steve at W.N. is the head of MBC in Canada, and is also a certified Gunting instructor. He might be able to give you a hand.
