Gunting again...

Preciate the info BOK, sorry about me e-mail it has my last name in it, and I'm leery about giving it out. I guess I should get a hotmail account. I'm sure at some point we'll meet, I'll buy ya a coffee or something.

As for Axed, it will be worth the wait. Try to get some sleep.;)

4-6 weeks ehh?
I came in to work today expecting my spyderco military to be waiting for me. Lo and behold, the worse thing happned to me.
It maybe anotehr week, maybe more.

I know how you feel Axed. The wait is not fun.

In fact it has been exaclty a month since I put in my order on July 7th. Maybe I am being a little too impatient.

Don't worry, aXed. Time will go by fast. In the mean time, you can play with my gunting.
;)

BRAM - Vancouver is a great city. Hope you drop by soon.

hahhaah.. thanks for the support guys, but it's been 29 hours since i've put my order in... sigh...

as for you jjcoolay, maybe they're doing it on purpose... ya know, just to bust your chops.. heh heh.. j/k

i'm so green with envy... shoulda ordered mine earlier... now BOK and FC Yuk are strutting around with their G's and i'm G less!!!

sigh.... 508 hours to go... 508... i can do this

aXed

FC Yuk, i get to play with yours right? :D

Mine sucks!!! It's a 50/50...

Just kidding it doesn't suck but I woulda preferred it if I got the PE as I specified.

Hopefully Bram will be along to tell me some of the benefits of the 50/50 over the PE.

I think I'm going to have to keep this one. Not too much chance of exchanging a special order knife.

508 hours ehh? Thats another 21 days. So when your order gets in, mine will be here as well. Funny thing is, I ordered my knife b4 Fc Yuk and his is already here.

We are in this together Axed so count with me. 507, 506, 505.......

Wow, its more impressive in my hand than in the magazine. I'm so lucky that my order wasn't messed. However, a small problem is that the "kick" action when the blade is fully closed is very weak. Kinda scared that it might open up on me when its not suppose to but I still love this knife.

aXed - HAHAHA........sure, I guess. Just don't open it on your leg.....

My personal carries are 50/50..never know when you are going to run into fabric..rope, weaved stuff..goretex..supposedly uncuttable fabric..you know..realtime clothing type stuff...
Stuff that really needs a Spyder edge..
with the advent of sharpeners for serrated edges like Spyder edges its foolish to not take advantage of its superior cutting power..
And with a 50/50- I choose where and when I use each type of edge..

And of course I basically carry a DRone and a CRMIPT now..
my live blade..the Gunting, resides in its home by my bed...
With a DRone I can slam n jam and demo it..With a CRMIPT I can really slam n jam and put some hurt on the world....no demoing with that puppy...
\and if I neeed to cut something I use my Navigator.
silly me..

If your blade "falls out".."falls open" its too loose.. Let Steve tighten it down for you and loc-tite it into that position..
Mine will not "inertia open" it's too tight..but it certainly will "KinOp"..Kinetically open..BAM!...
Yes..everyone thinks we set them too tight till they get used to it..
a pocket impact tool that ONLY when you need it becomes an edged impact tool..
Get a holster from SKUNWORKS...

Bram,
Cut,with that little Nav?? ;)Be advised, Everyone should use locktight, lost the screw from my Drone,Vince is getting me one now! :(
I know "I" don't want to be on the recieving end of either of your carries!! No Sir!! Not me!!
jim

Hey thanks for your input on the 50/50 Bram. So many on these forums hate that 50/50 edge (myself partially included) but on this knife I think I'll keep it.

For it's SD applications I'm sure those serrations cut very efficiently through various types of clothing. Hopefully I'll never have to try this firsthand though.

you guys are really talking hours..hundreds of hours? for what? Guntings? Drones?????
hell 'n damnation young whippersnappers up in EH-land....just give me a shout and order them with Steve..They wing their way up to his, yes get this... USA address and he PICKS them up..OOOHHHHHHH coool...no waiting..no holding your breath....

Bram

PS: Please loc-tite all the pivot screws in your DRones, Guntings & Crimpts...they are not done so @ the factory and they need it..
Mr Jim..I think I told ALL of you to do this LAST seminar..You probably were too busy beating on people to hear me..ROFL....

Loctite will do...

Just how tight do I have to make that pivot screw though?

The blade should take some effort to open with your thumb in a normal Spyderco fashion..As a matter of fact it should seem like maybe just a touch too tight..Like it opens slowly..with a touch too much effort..
Its a feel thingie..
its a personal "FEEL".....

Then it won't open when you just grab it,,it will have to be opened "BAM"..or opened because you actually want it open..

Can you Pac-Man with it? if not its too tight..
Can you inertia open it? its too loose!
hmmm a bit of this a touch of that....

OK???????

O.k. I'm starting to get the idea. I was having problems with mine being to loose. I've got my hex keys out and am slowly tightening up the pivot. Right now I can't open it inertially in the forward grip, but I can in reverse grip. (I can open just about anything in reverse grip though, the human wrist just works better that way.)

Everything thing else you described matches, though I don't understand the "Pac-man" reference.

Maybe just a bbiiiiiiiittttttt tighter.........

Thanks for all the input Bram. I definitely gonna get the drone and holster for the gunting. I just tightened up the screw and now, I feel a bit safer carrying it in my pocket for now until I get the holster. Today, I carried it for a bit with the tightness as it came and I was kinda paranoid about it opening up on me. Didn't know if it would defeat the purpose of the knife if I tightened it too much.

it's been...105 hours since i've put my order in... :(

by the way, i did the math wrong... i've got 567 hours to wait!!!

!@#$%!@

but anyway, i was working today and guess who dropped by? none other than steve man himself! i got to play with all 3 of his G's plus he showed me some cool stuff (not to mention him showing my customers a few moves too...) i can't wait to get trained!!
BRAM...just ask steve, he'll tell you how enthusiastic (more like loud and dorky) i was about the G, that HAS to give you incentive to come train us :D

so Bram, what do you think? will we be seeing you soon? ;)

aXed

by the way steve, thanks for spending so much time showing me stuff... i hope i wasn't too much of a dork :D
