Guyot stainless bottles?

Got a Guyot Standard bottle this week with the Gripton handle.
It readily replaced my Nalgene.

Primary reason I bought it was wanted the ability to boil water if necessary.
With the Gripton handle make it a little easier to carry around the office too & drink from in the car , and the lid does not leak /no more twisting off and on to grab a swig, and if I want to clip it to my pack when I head into the woods - it's no problem.

I got a little tired of the taste of the water if I left in the Nalene bottle over night, and took a swig the next morning - tasted a little odd.

I really prefer the Stainless.

Be Well,

Another choice: http://wiggys.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=22&CFID=2267306&CFTOKEN=25573593
I haven't used it, but I'll get one when I get back to the states. Lifetime guarantee. I have their sleeping bags and pads. They are the best.

I also have the Wiggy's bottle/cup combo. It's actually well built, but has a smaller mouth and the two large O-rings don't make a great seal and it will leak a little. It's really designed for melting snow beside the fire or over the coals (have to remove the two large O-rings.

It's larger than the Guyot, but same principle...a very robust design.

There
s also something called the Kleen Kanteen in SS single wall Spooky, over at backcountry.com, 2 sizes too, 20oz & 40oz capacity under $25 each. Over at SwampRat Rat Chat/Survival Forum there is a thread on the Guyot if you want to see what those folks had to say, Q started it.

i have a Kleen Kanteen. i realy like it. It holds drinking watter without imparting any taste, and you can cook things in it. Iv used mine to cook beans, and it worked well.

Thanks for adding that Mr Trooper I am curious as to the differences between the Guyot and Kleens? Anyone know? Capacities would be one, empty weight, mouth diameter, seal of cap good or not? thanks

I have all three and will take measurements if you guys want. Here is some canteen porn to satisfy all your needs for now.

Thanks for the canteen photos Kevin. I notice the smaller neck and opening on the Kleen now compared to the others. I'm guessing 1 1/2" dia? the center one looks to be easiest to clean out with a bottle brush if need be; though if just used to carry, store, and boil water in I guess they are all equal. I do like the wider base of the center one though for stability in a fire.

Does anyone know if there is a guyot SS bottle the same size as the smaller 16oz nalgene?

EDIT: Nope. All are wide like the big 'un but different shapes or heights.

Stopped by Sportsmen's Warehouse today in Federal Way, Washington and they didn't carry the Guyot! :grumpy: Drat! Spooky, your post had given me hope, but I guess not all stores carry them.

Still looking! Did find a cool "mini" magnesium firestarter, though. Will post pics later.
