Guys, did I just fall into a trap?

This morning I was looking to buy a Spyderco Southard and decided to shop around. I first checked ebay looking for a brand new one and this one was one of the first returned search results:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/spyderco-br...958?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item1c3ea3a79e

I had a similar situation. I was looking for a Chris Reeves Umnumzaan and found a listing for one on the Bay. When I asked where the D2 blade came from I was informed that it was a Zaan style. You had to read real close to discern this. I reported a complaint about the seller to Ebay and he now lists his knockoff CR knives as such.

CHRIS REEVES (CLONE) Umnumzaan Folding Knife Titanium Folder D2 blade

Copy this into the Bay search window and tell me if without the "CLONE" in the title if you think a trusting buyer would not be fooled.

No I didn't buy it, was just PO'd about the guy's fraudulent sales practices and filed a complaint. This is how all fakes and knockoff of any type of merchandise should be listed, which I don't think should be allowed in the first place.

I jumped on it, seeing that the seller feedback was 100% positive, and thought I got a great deal. Tonight, after returning to the Ebay page and doing a little critical thinking, I have a suspicion that I may not be getting exactly what I expect. What raises my suspicion is the price, the misspelling of "CTS-240p," and the words "Brad Southard style."

I paid using PayPal btw.

What do you guys think?

We should all complain to Ebay about this fraudulent selling whenever we see it to force the sellers off the site.

I did this with a seller of fake Chris Reeves Umnumzaans, see the subject heading he is now using.

CHRIS REEVES (CLONE) Umnumzaan Folding Knife Titanium Folder D2 blade

Copy this into the Ebay search and look at how the knife is described. Without the work "CLONE" in caps it is very misleading. Before my complaint the word CLONE didn't exist in his listing.

When I asked him where the D2 blade came from he was very vague saying it came that way from the factory. Bad guy!

from 2005 till 2 years ago I purchased on other sites over 7500 , yes 7500, knives .. Since joining here in June 2013, I have purchased < 10 elsewhere. All of the 10 purchased elsewhere had zero, none, 0 post for sell here within a min of 2 years. I always use the search feature here to check history and determine the likelyhood of finding that knife here.
Revdevil is really moving as a MOD to not only enforce rules, but to promote this site. That excites me, more than any grail, i've even held. When you feel passion, pride and excitement from anyone in charge, you respect them and the product that much more. And that is why I do not cross list items I sale on other sites, and that is why I feel, what you do on other sites, and try to drag here is total B/S... Wipe your feet before you come into our house.

I am so glad were friends treeshaker otherwise I would never see your posts :D

It looks like they changed it but anything with "style" after the name is probably a fake, and if you're going that route there are definitely cheaper options.

EXACTLY! I notice a lot of users / members post ebay and PayPal complaints here. Why? Is BF the complaint department for other sites? This has been discussed in minute detail on umpteen threads. I've got a wonderful picture of Nova Scotia. The photograph is absolutely beautiful. So since I have this great picture I have all I need to sell another person Nova Scotia.
Stupid Sounding?
Thats all you get in ANY on line transaction; a picture. And based on that picture your brain tells you if you want it or not. Then, and only then, do you do your research.
I'm in SpyderCo's showroom twice a month. PM me what you want and I'll put Mr. Mike Kelly on the phone with you and you can give him your 'Perts'. It's called factory direct. No middle man. No B.S. And it comes with a Cert of Authenticity signed by SpyderCo. SpyderCo will show up on your Debit Card Statement.
Bottom Line: You are not going to get the service and credibility and trust you expect from a legitimate authorized dealer unless you purchase from a legitimate authorized dealer.

I was just trying to buy a knife and decided to ask the more knowledgeable people here if I bought a fake or not. That's all. I am not trying to screw over the maker or designer. And I am definitely not gonna buy a Southard from Spyderco at MSRP. I did that with the Delica I bought for $80 when visiting the Golden Factory And I didn't come here to complain and you can see that in my posts.

Yes that is a stupid sounding analogy

Anyways, appreciate the feedback everyone

Is It? A picture is all it took for you to shop. Apparently just two pictures that were vague and discribed with unclear wording? You brought this here. I'm assuming you wanted folks to help you?
Then take your own advice, BrotherMan....
I'm not sure what your true issue is. You want quality and honesty but you don't want to pay the price to get it...Hmmm...then you get what you get. If you want the real deal then go to the source.
Speaking of pictures, here's where I go for SpyderCo knives. Sounds like you have been there before? I was dead serious about the offer. I'm in there twice a month. PM me what you really want. They have their HUGE sale every November.
This is from yesterday 4/3/2014. That is a Mannix on the box and thats Bobby in the background, one of the finishers who made it. Nothing like having the knife come right out of the hands of its maker.(Yeah, it snows here all the time.) Coors Brewery is 2.3 miles to the South of the flagpole...:) Nothing like having a beer poured by it's maker....Next Stop.
