Guys is this kydex normal or not??

Wait a minute, just thought of something. While sanding the kydex particles of the sandpaper are going to mix with the kydex dust making it abrasive.

A little bit of an answer to satin and fine scratches. Please Busse Combat,STONEWASH

Doesn't seem likely. A quick search indicates that Kydex (there are many grades apparently) is an alloy of ABS (acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene) and PVC (polyvinylchloride) plastics. Nothing about that suggests really hard components.

I do not know how it does it but I have scratched a blade with a kydex sheath. Nothing more than kydex dust inside. I would not figure soft plastic would be able to do it but it did. I have had it happen on a Swamp Rat and Bravo-1. Not bad scratches but ones you can see. Not had any from the sheath after it was cleaned up good. Those were when I first tried sheath making, leaned to make sure the sheath was completely clean before removing the tape after that. Is it possible that there are some hard media in the kydex that comes out in the dust?

True. But I think we can assume that any competent sheath maker will clean up the abrasive dust as one of the last steps in the process.

Very true! All this I was saying is coming from someone making one at the molding and finishing time. Again I have not had any trouble after that time with a clean sheath. Everyone needs to make sure there is nothing on your blade or in the sheath when you are inserting the knife. That is going to be hard to do with a working field knife with kydex or leather but can be reduced with some care. Easy to do with a safe queen.
