I got my nuclear green handled, special edition USN, Spyderco H-1 Catcherman today and I am truly very happy with it. The only thing that troubles me is that I'm probably going to use it and ultimately destroy any collector value in the knife unless I can come up with some more $$ to get a second one.

I truly hope this paves the way for an H-1 Catcherman for the Salt Series. And they need to offer it in all three edge variants. This knife is so functional and elegant in H-1 and I truly do want to use it.

Let me know when you all get yours and let us know what you think of it. This could be a launching pad for a new Salt Series blade and I truly hope that comes to fruition.

Got mine yesterday. Haven't been fishing since Dad passed in '71 but I'm back living in my old home town and see they're catching nice trout in the Arkansas river within easy bicycling distance. If they don't come out with a production model soon (preferably full serrated) I'll definitely be getting this one bloody.

Pics? Mine just arrived (shown with it's older brother) -

WE need Spyderco to make another Bladeforums knife now...

I'd like that, but I wonder how we might reach any sort of agreement as to what model/color/etc it ought to be?

Based on the lengthy discussions on the Spyderco forum, I am not optimistic.

That's all part of the fun of a forum knife. If you can't pull it off, you don't deserve one ? ;)

I love the looks of the catcherman it's a modern interpitation of a classic Spydie and should prove very useful to the hardcore fisherman also we need more toxic green spydies IMO.

My only question is why didn't they put jimping on it?

Sithus you really make me extremely envious :D I have that top full SE Catcherman and I've been trying for the past 2 years to find another back up unit to the one I have. I sure hope they will bring back the Catcherman in all 3 edge types and put it in the Salt Series.

The Serration pattern on the Catcherman is truly somewhat different than it is on most other Spyders. The only other Spyder I remember that has serrations similar to the Catcherman was their F-1 Bread Knife from days gone by ( 2001-02). They are a lower profile more rounded serration and they work great with meat, fish, poultry and just about any food preparation chore.

Great Picture!! my Spyder Brother :) Wow! those 2 look great together!!

The biggest obstacle comes from those that want a non locking small knife and the large/medium locking knife. At least that is what I remember fromreading the multiple threads. It really should not be as difficult as it has been, especially with so may dozens of viable designs. I would gladly buy one of these though. Where are they sold?

Nice picture...I am not envisioning a lot of fileting success with that full SE edge, though...? What's the report from users of the old SE blades?
