Had to happen, 1st Spyderco

About a month ago I bought a Tenacious, knowing it was their budget model. I was so blown away by it (still am, it's a great knife) I quickly followed with it's brothers, the Persistence and Ambitious. If they could make their 'cheap' ones this good, I figured, I need to step it up. In the past couple weeks I've expanded to 37 Spyderco's and a couple of Byrd's. So far, my favorite was the Sage 1, but I got the Gayle Bradley the other day and it's too close to call. I too am addicted to the Spyder Hole, nothing else feels good anymore to me. Ewwwww. That came out wrong.

My first was a Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189 and it hooked me immediately. If Spyderco can make a knife that small that feels that good in-hand and has steel that good for only like $65... Since then I've gotten a Chapparal and a Techno and I love all three.

37 spidies in a couple weeks! That's awesome!

My first was a caly 3 cf zdp-189. My blue cf domino sees the most pocket time though.

Thank you! I just couldn't help myself... still cant!

The cf domino is one of my newer ones (I guess at this point they're all new) but it's definitely one of the better ones. Some I only like, and some, like the Domino I love. I just looked up what a blue weave domino looks like, and WOW! *sigh* now I need one of them too... Anyone want to buy a kid?

My first was an endura FFG. Second a military. The finishing work on the blades are amazing. The size of the military blade just blows me away. I'm going to stick my finger in that hole right now.

After much deliberation, a Dragonfly 2 was my first. Small but incredibly capable. As Ruarch stated though: "It escalated quickly from there." :D

My first Spyderco (and foray into expensive knives) was a black/black PM2. I liked the knife but didn't appreciate it that much at the time so I sold it.

I will probably end up with another one somewhere down the line, but have since purchased a Spyderco Delica and have a Manix 2 on the way, which was my other choice as first "expensive" knife if I didn't choose the PM2.

First Spyderco I carried was a Delica with a PE blade in AUS-8 and an integral clip. That knife was lent to me by my father and I was initially skeptical of the unique deployment hole. I grew fond of it and the first Spyderco I purchased was a Pacific Salt in PE.

I carried an Endura w. zdp189 steel for more than a year as my edc before I got my second Spyderco, the Military. Great knives.

My first was the typical Tenacious. I think everyone recommends it because it's like a gateway drug. You get a taste of the curves and Spydie hole and then you want more and more.

My first just this year was a Techno. Then I wanted its bigger brother so I got the Slysz Bowie. I happened to be looking through the photo thread and spied a cool looking knife, but didn't know what it was. Found out it was a PPT. Had to have it. Not sure what is next.

My first was an Endura4, followed by a Dragonfly2… then it escalated. My Spydercos: Endura4, DF2, DF2 in H1 SE, PE H1 Tasman salt, Delica4, Ambitious, Persistence, Tenacious, Resilience, Kiwi3, Ladybug, Domino, Dice, Yojimbo2, Manix2 XL… I think that's it. Lots more to get!!!

First was a blue Endura about a half dozen years ago and I was so impressed by the quality that I dove straight in and picked up several different models.
A few Sage models, 3 Millies, a blue para 2, and a Caly 3.5 CF/ZDP189. (May have forgotten a few?)
Of them all, I would choose the S90V blue Military as my favorite.
Each spyderco model has their own special DNA but they all function great and feel fantastic because they all relate back to that spyderco bloodline. There is no doubt that whatever model you choose, it will be ergonomic and SHARP.
I love that hole.

Wow. That's quite a place to start. My first was a little more than most, a Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189. I have a Techno now(and a Chaparral) and it was my grail Spydie until the wife got it for Father's Day. I can't imagine starting at that point though. You can't get much higher in the Spydie product line.
What's next? Maybe a classic Delica or Endura, or maybe another collab like a Gayle Bradley or Southard. Personally I'm looking at a Domino or(if it actually gets released) a Positron.

Either way welcome to Spyderco fandom!

started with a military in 09 and and quickly bought an all black serrated native.

I've lost track of all the ones in between then and now, had a bunch at one time but now its been narrowed to the manix LW, endura and ladybug. I've got multiple ladybugs and enduras but need to pick up a few more manix LW for variety

Delica.

Early '90's ---my Mom was asking what I wanted for Christmas----told her a Delica and described the stainless handle---come Christmas, I unboxed this monster combo edge Endura thinking what am I going to do with this thing because it was so big---it quickly grew on me and was EDCed until I discovered the AXIS lock in '06----haven't bought another Spyderco since---BUT currently looking real hard at the Manix 2 because it comes close to the beloved Axis lock.
