At www.balisongxtreme.com Clay has some nice hand exercises, they build strenght and dexterity in your hands. I also use "grips" that strengthen my grip, hands, fingers, forearms etc.

Blasto,

Are you talking about a hand-held Gyro for a hand exerciser?

my physical therapist has some of those hand held gyros. you start it with a string and I'll tell ya this, its harder than it looks and it really does give you a work out

Nate,

I heard that the Gyroscopic ones are really powerful. There is one that lights up, I guess for those that need to be amused (like me) while they exercise their hands. And then there is one that is less expensive that does not.

I know what you are talking about though, about starting it with a string as I like Tops and old Gyro toys, etc. And a pull on a string can get some Gyros spinning at up to 10,000 RPM and that is nothing to sneeze at.

I will have to get one of those in the future.

the one I used was bright green with what looked like a yellow fan blade looking thing inside and it sounded really really cool. Then again Im like a little bird anything shiny and new (and usually expensive) attracts my eye LOL. I got bored in my Modern American History class one day and designed a custom silver and gold ring that cost way too much and my girlfriend always steals. LOL

i use one of those old-fashined squeezy-things. you know, a coil spring with handles. i've broken several of them over the years through excessive use.

Yes, I suffer from that ailment as well. Fortunately, I have a very loving Wife who has given me a most wonderful Father's Day Gift, a Custom BaliSong USA, that she sold her Glock 9mm for. I'm proud, can't you tell?

Im not a big 9mm fan LOL Id rather have the knife. get me a 40 cal Sig and we're talking. The smallest gun Ive ever really spent time with is a .38 Anyway the knife is less likely to provoke someone in todays world Although the gun is better at taking out those blasphemous soda cans and back-stabbing and lying beer bottles. I suppose you could throw Balis at them but I for one, am too lazy to walk all the way down there to retrieve them LOL.

Nate,

My Wife might have had ulterior motives in this instance as I have a Sig P-220 .45ACP that she loves.

Whatever you do, make sure you work your fingers in all possible directions.

This will help keep away (or at least minimize) any carpal tunnel problems.

Frank,

I agree. The YoYo is very cool indeed. I have downloaded many of these YoYo Videos, as well as Clay's Videos on the BaliSong to brush up on. Clay is a wealth of info as well. He has me latch-dropping like a Pro now. And yes Clay, hardheaded Don finally "got it" the way you told me to do it, and it is smooth as silk. I was simply trying to hard before. I was mindlessly watching "TheWeakestLink..." and did it, and I was like, "Whoaa...this is it. Clay is DA MAN."

Thanks for the help and the patience.

Yup, that's usually the way it happens Don.

Thinking too hard about techniques usually undermines your progress in actually figuring them out. And the more you obsess, the further away it becomes.

A pretty cruel fact eh..........?

The funny thing is, when people e-mail me that they're having a problem with something, and I tell them "don't think about it, just do it", they get pissed off at me.

It's like they think I'm trying to keep everything a secret or something.

Will do, Clay. I'm a computer nerd by day so carpal tunnel is definately a concern. I've read through all of the exercises on your site, but I just gotta quit slackin'

Well, you could try one of those hand exercisers that are used by DJ's and rockclimbers and such, where you can exercise your fingers independantly.
It has four "buttons" with springs for each finger, but I can't find any pictures of one...

Yeah, I think I've seen the individual finger exercisers at oshmans's... I'm sure they're on the website there.

Another place to look around would be in the martial arts places... I remember seeing one once that was like a steel hoop, with springs going to five rings in the middle, one for each finger, starting from a wide-open grip, which seems like it would work better than the button thing.

The steel hoop with individual finger rings and springs used to be called, "The Eagle Catcher."

The little device someone else described was originally marketed for guitar players in the 1980s (I know, I played guitar and had one) now they have a barrel attached to them and they are marketed to Shooters.

They're pretty good for individual finger exercises...
