something I found that really built up strength in my fingers was doing military press pushups on my fingertips. I started out doing the first 3 of each set on my fingertips and gradually progressed untill I can do 3 sets easy now.

Yes, at times it seems that way. I think the Latch Drop is something that is so subtle, allowing the knife to do the work is an alien thing sometimes. You really don't have to work it at all, just move your hand, sleight of hand...bang.

It's funny that of all the people anyone could accuse of keeping things a secret that they would accuse you. Your website is a virtual encyclopedia of openings and so many different things that I don't even have the stones to do myself.

I have a cousin who tries so hard on the latch-drop that he nearly stabs his leg everytime he attempts it. The latch-drop is actually one I figured out on my own. I just held the latch one day and let my Jag fall away and was surprised as hell when it came back into my hand.

In continuing with the current direction this is taking, I was at my friends house about a month ago and he was showing me his slightly worn BM 45. He was looking through clays site and asked me to show him the backhand pass where you richoet the handle off the heel of your palm. I did it exactly right the first time and was going to do it again, this time switching hands when he commented about something that had to do with watching my hands. I happened to flick my eyes down, TOTALLY screw up and REALLY gouge the tip of my index finger on my recieving (Left) hand. I said some colorful expletives, and told him to get me a bandaid. Upon further inspection under a faucet of cold water I realized I could barely see the white layer under my skin. SO, I had him go to my house and get a box of Steri-strips from my garage. Moral: Bandaids are great and belong within arms reach of any Balisonger, Steri-strips should be included too.

For hand strength, nothing is better than splitting wood with a sledge hammer and a wedge. I know that now a days, they have a machine that will do it, but nothing is better than the old fashion way for strength and endurance. Also, you end up with some great wood to burn in your fire place.

Haha... I have bandaids in the car, at home, at work and even at a few friends' houses. My middle finger is snuggly wrapped after chewing it up with twirls

Those padded ones are the best, as they help take away some pain on regular ricochet spots.

JohnR7 - You're absolutely right. I just got a new axe (it's more like a sharp maul) last week. I find chopping wood relaxing more than anything.
