So is the smooth bone to be contoured or flat? Im getting the idea that if it is smooth then it is contoured. I would rather it be flat myself.

I voted for bone but really i would take saw cut wood over contoured smooth bone.

I'd be happy with this knife in wood or bone but my real preference would be in the raw unfinished bone... primitive, muscle, frontier, whatever they call it now, undyed and all natural withe the end square cut as you said

I'm not a fan of black woods which seems to be a popular choice. I only like woods where I can see the grains.

Yep, looks like bone is running away with it. A red soup bone of some sort or a smooth white bone would be dynamite.
