Handle scales on traditional knives

I kinda like 'em all. It's nice to have variety! But I do tend to prefer slimmer traditional folders for actual carry and use. I love the look and feel of stag, but often find stag covers are cut too thick for my liking...

I like a variety. I have recently experienced GEC with acrylic covers and I really like the feel and look. I also like wood and bone/stag.

My one fixed blade has a leather handle....that feels excellent in the hand and is hansome too.

I guess I am easily pleased!

Thanks for Your posts everyone, lots of nice handle options mentioned!

Flushing with some woods I bought in 2015:

Palo Santo feeling smooth with a plain surface, but I didn't use/oil this one till now.
Che Chen Rosewood is a little rougher and gets darker and smoother the more I oil it.
Gaboon Ebony is a little rough with lots of smoothness. Very comfortable in hand, but obviously no color variations.

A happy and healthy 2016!

The little Jack run from GEC turned out great in my opinion.
I bought different handle options and liked the wood as well as the bone handles.
The orange Sheepsfoot was my trial in finding out a slightly sanding; smooth but still a little grippy, with visible marks of the jigging.

Looks good, man. Looks like you aged those covers about 50 years. I like it.

Beautiful knives here guys! My preference is for wood scales, (Osage orange and ebony being my favorites) and occasionally some bone, usually smooth, sometimes saw cut or gun stock checkered. Nifebrite, what oil are you using on your wooden scales? They look great!

Red sawcut is probably my favorite.

Sawcut is definitely my favorite on GECs. Mostly because they don't seem to have as many sunken pins. That Stew's Blade looks like all three pins are nicely domed. Beautiful knife.

Wood of one kind or another, including resin-impregnated. Or Delrin or bone or stacked leather (fixed blade), or alox or cellidor (SAK).

I avoid stag and G-10, but perhaps that's because the latter is used exclusively (?) on modern designs, which I don't care for. Stag I just don't like the feel of.

I didn't make it to a osage one till now, but wanted to. Great looking wood!
I'm using LaTromba woodwind care oil (same which I use for oiling my clarinet;)), but heard that almond oil would serve the same purpose (but I haven't tried this one yet).

Being rather new here, I find myself very very picky about what types of handles I want on my knives. My taste has changed dramatically since I first came round here.
First and foremost, any black color gets my immediate attention. If it's anything other than black, I might just scroll right past it unless I happen to notice it's in a pattern I like.

Second, I like smooth handles, so jigged and burnt are the lowest of the low on my "look at" list. I won't even consider stag...not on any level. Very much dislike stag.

Third, I'm not as traditional as some of you. I prefer materials like micarta and G10 and Delrin (not celluloid though, no way). I will look at some buffalo horn only because it's black.
Fourth, I prefer handles with minimal pins. If it's got more than 3, I'm not interested, regardless of pattern or material.

I like the yellow Derlin on the case trapper and I like the saw cut bone put out by GEC makes. The gec bone will be my number one choice. The only handle material I don't like is the alox on the victornox too smooth tends to bother my hand an fall out of my pocket. I also like the wood on the buck 110.

I like horn. Rams horn particularly. Smooth or rough. I also like Buffalo horn.

And I have a small obsession with Snakewood.

I like wood (especially Ebony and Blackwood):

I also lump really dark Cocobolo in this field:

Red Bone (both jigged and Sawcut) are both superb:

And knives meant for work are great in Micarta:

But my favorite would have to be stacked leather with a bit of Micarta and Brass thrown in:
