Handles on Scrapyard knives....

Another advantage that I don't think was mentioned here is that some of tangs are designed to be decently comfy when used without the res c, in the unlikely event it were to come off in the field. I say some because some of the 3/16 stock knives (1311, Taliwhacker) have barbs in the tang that might make them uncomfortable. This isnt really an issue, I think I remember reading something Jerry wrote saying that the Res C would likely have to burned off the knife.....but it is nice knowing that using it without the handle was taken into consideration.

Don't know what you mean by barbs in the tang,But I have read that the metal handle goes all the way to the end in case it does get burned off you can still use it.

I've pushed for this since the Regulator Test Team days. Maybe one day....

I was concerned about rust, so i decided to treat the blade before changing the handles, it's in process, here is the blade when i put off the reciprene

But with coated blade it's ok i guess

That's impressive--thanks for posting. Appears SR101 may not be the best steel to leave bare under Res-C.

Guy--Just returned to this thread and saw your nice comment crediting me with donating that B9 for the cause. Certainly was worth it to me for the knowledge gained, and hope others gained from it as well.

You can see the tang barbs in that pic. I didn't know the Tali-Whackers had those. Thanks for posting!
