Hanger Guard Fighter from Claudio CAS-Completed; photos added

Wow that's not what I was expecting it to look like.. in fact I really couldn't figure it out but it's beautiful. It's cool that you have an amber stag theme as your collection

I don't comment very often, but this knife truly impresses me. I particularly like the raw pre etched photo of the blade, and then wham! The next showing off the beautifully patterned blade.
I'm amazed at the talent that is possessed by a number of people on this forum!
Beautiful on all accounts!

Thank you all for the comments !!
We enjoyed doing this knife.
I think I will use the blued with more frecuencia in my knives, the contrast is very nice..

Kevin, thanks for giving me the freedom to design and trust us, hope you enjoy this piece..

best regards

Claudio

Kevin and Claudio, just and outstanding thread and a wonderful knife... A pure pleasure to see... Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

Hello!

Claudio, I knew you would rock this beauty as you always do! What a great looking package all around!

Kevin, congrats on a fabulous piece! You know, you're hooked now, mate! 😁

All the best,
Alex

Does it get sexier or more sinister than this? It can't!
BB2015 finalist quality.
Great score Kevin!
Claudio, Marcello: Bravo!

Sexy / Sinister, pretty much sums this piece up for me as well Coop.

I had Kyle Royer create another Amber Stag & Damascus Hanger Guard Bowie/Fighter for me some months ago. Though somewhat similar; very different in that I would describe the Royer as a more Classic design with it's traditional lines, engraving and mirror polished fittings and the CAS more contemporary with it's aggressive tactical blade shape and blacked-out fittings.

Hello Jon. There's actually no deliberate effort on my part to acquire amber stag handled knives over other materials, even though I can see how it may seem that way. I'm obviously crazy about amber stag, however I'm very drawn towards top quality walrus and mammoth ivory as well. Wood handles currently make up a substantial % of my current collection. As you know my collection is constantly changing as I purchase, commission and pass knives along to other collectors.

Alex, I'm very possibly hooked ;) as it's been a VERY Positive experience dealing with CAS on this project. In addition to the fine Fighter & Sheath they created for me their business model is very impressive as they attack a project utilizing skills, planning, efficiencies, media/photography etc-etc.... and get it done.

And their communication with the collector is outstanding. From Claudio sending me the initial design drawing to him sending me the video link and his beautiful completion photos they didn't miss a beat.

A general note: this Fighter is about 18" OAL, my largest knife acquired to date.

Wow - that was FAST!

The bluing really takes that to a higher level, IMO. It fits in perfectly with everything else that is going on.

Congrats on a very, very, nice addition.

Very special piece. It all came together nicely: design, materials, Damascus and fit & finish. The photos are very good too. Enjoyed watching this WIP and the final knife.

I recall mentioning that I thought blued fittings on Kyle's knife would have elevated it substantially. Recall getting a tiny bit of pushback on that thought ;)
Not to denigrate Kyle's excellent work, but to my eye, Claudio/CAS blew him outta the water with this one!

This is easily one of the most attractive bowie I've ever laid eyes on.

That is a very aggressive, yet classy looking package. I like it a lot:thumbup:

I'm glad I don't have to pick a favorite, :) just glad they are both mine. ;) I don't even believe I can compare the two as they are just TOO Different. I absolutely love the blued (blacked) fittings here, however I wanted Kyle's engraving on the Royer piece which worked out well with the stainless mirror polish.

Anyway, one of the many things that make custom knives so great IMO, is that two different and skilled knifemakers can make similar style knives that results in two totally different but still outstanding knives. This is obviously TOTALLY DIFFERENT from a knifemaker setting out to make a copy of another maker's knife.

Great score Kevin . The Sobral Brothers do outstanding work, I have several of their knives in my collection now with a couple due anytime soon and more on order. They just keep producing outstanding pieces

Shape, colour, texture, contrast all of it just perfect. That is a stunning piece of work. And at 18"OAL almost perfect for EDC...well maybe a touch sizeable
