Hanna's Box of Hope

I wish I could say that this had something to do with me but it really wasn't even my idea

Thanks all the same Andy and I hope we are able to make a small dent in what has to be a huge burden!

John,
I've got a care package I've been meaning to send for both Hannah and Haley, so I'll just open that back up and add a bit to it.
good luck!

I have participated in a couple of benefit auctions. The "donators" simply posted pictures of their donation in the auction thread. Once the auction had enough goods, the bidding began on the thread. All the donators then shipped their donations directly to the winner. It worked well. Just a suggestion.

Either way, I would like to donate a vintage axe. I'll go through my pieces and pick one out!

seems like a good idea to me. and it would save John the cost of shipping all the items to the purchasers. more for Hanna!

I think it would be shipping all of the contents in the box to one person? Not individual items to multiple buyers.

The original idea was the travelling box which would be added to and then sent on to the auctioneer but, wisely, there were issues identifed with that approach. Namely, the last person might be shipping something that was pretty darn heavy and costly!

The modified idea is to have people ship their items directly to John and he will in turn ship out to the auction winner(s). As M3emphis suggested, maybe those who want to participate can just forward photos of the items and then ship direct to the auction winner once John receives the payment? Seems to make sense??????

It sounds good to me. How about we post our contributions right here in this thread (include a few nice pics and description), and we'll leave it open until we've got a really attractive basket of goods. Then we can make a new thread for the auction with all the pictures and descriptions and make it look really nice.

Do we want to put the auction thread here in the JK forum or somewhere else?

oops.
I sent John a box today -- of course, 3/4ths of the volume would have headed his way regardless.

Oh...so, is the auction for all of the items in the "box" (i.e. combined)? or, will they be auctioned individually? makes no difference to me...just curious.

I like M3mphis's idea.
Post a picture of your donated item/items & if anyone wants it,they bid on it,then you send it to the winning bidder.
No need to have everything traveling from point A to point B then to the winning bidder at point C.

Maybe Mykel`s idea of the picture posting and individual sales are the way to go. I know I can`t afford to send out all the packages.

I think individual sales/auction would net more funds. I'd have no problem shipping directly to the buyer/winner.

So, what do you guys think of this approach:

•The person donating the item will email me a photo of the item with description
•The items will accumulate over a few weeks and a date will be set for the auction
•I will post the item in a "Hanna's Hope Auction Thread" Each item will have it's own individual thread, entiltled "Hanna's Hope Auction / Classic Vintage Felling Axe" or whatever the item is
•The auction will play out
•Once closed, I will notify the winning bidder, have them send the funds directly to John and, once John receives the payment, notify the person donating the item to ship to the winner

I do think it makes sense to auction the items individually as it should net a larger amount of money overall for Hanna. If you want to donate multiple items, please specify if you would like to auction each item individually or as a lot.

Sound good?

I like the idea of people just sending pictures - or posting pictures in a thread, and then at the end, someone can coordinate the auction and then tell everyone where to send the winners their goods.

I have a couple of items that I will post up.

Let me know what the organizers have decided.

best

Just FYI, this has my full approval. Best of luck man.

also john, you can use this website to help create awareness and raise funds for her treatments i would think. it makes it easy with one, centralized location for funds needed/collected.
