This was a completely custom order from head to toe. Since its a user Don forged steel for this knife with W2 in the ladder pattern to make it a great cutter. It had a little recurve on the blade but it's hard to see in photos. There are thick liners with an even thicker bottom liner in what I think of as Emersons style. Heavier duty tork screws instead of thin and fancy ones, bronze bushings and lots of locktite complete the package. The blade has a higher polish then usual so that there is less contrast to be lost in the steel after use . I should add that the blade is thicker then his usual gents folders as well.

The clip may change to a plain color. I need to see how bright it looks in my pocket.. I like it though.

Don did exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier or more exited!

See you guys at Blade.. Its been a few years.. and too long! BTW, I can handle any criticism so for those of you who hate blue titanium or anything else, convince me why I should change it?
And again Don, I always appreciate what you do for me. You always go the extra mile and your work always WORKS.

Hello Jonathan!

Absolutely no criticism here - quite the extreme opposite. Not only because I for one love blue ti, but because it is one hell of a great looking package! Congratulations on an amazing knife! Must have been a tough decision to really make it a user, as beautiful as it is.

Best regards,
Alex

Don't change a thing! :) ...Of course that's just my opinion, though. ;)
Beautiful folder, man. Congrats!

WOW!

Would not change a thing.Every aspect works in harmony to deliver a beautiful presentation.

Astounding photos as well.

I'd frame it and hang it on my wall, not slip it in my pocket:)

Beautiful, as are all of your knives. The blue really sets it apart, gives it some flair.

Another vote for the blue and I'm not typically a fan of it. It works as a counter-point to the rustic package, yet harmonizes because of the liners.

Very beautifully put together folder. Don showed why his knives are in demand on this one with authority. Congrats on a fine knife. Thanks for sharing with us.

Looks very nice to me Jon. I like how you guys have designed this piece with being a pocket carry in mind. Damascus is a great material for blade and bolsters as it hides handling marks/scratches.
I believe someone in another thread/post suggested a Damascus pocket clip which would be nice too, however the continuation of the blue
adds a nice contrast imo. Don may be the only knifemaker where I can say I've liked every knife I've seen of his. It's always just a question of how much.

I'm going to get a Hanson carry folder as well.

I really like the blue ti. What a great edc. Really like all of Dons work.
Cheers Keith

Works for me! Got to be one of the nicest 'users' I ever saw......

I would change the clip to damascus....the clip now competes with the rest of the knife.

STeven Garsson

Thanks for posting this one, Jon! It was a very good project!

Kevin, we'll get something in the works soon.

Steven, a damascus clip would look nice. But I feel the Ti works as well.
BTW, I returned your call the other day and didn't get an answer or voice mail? Call me back.

Maybe if the titanium was textured some way, Don....the smoothness of it is throwing my perception of "flow" off....will call you this week.

I don't like it. Too busy. Bolster material and old mammoth is getting to be "old hat."

Alex- The knife was made to be a user. It came out more pretty then it needed to. If I don't use it, then the point of the order is lost. I know that when I get it I won't want to use it after seeing its brand new shine. But I will have to get over that.

STeven / Chuck- I think a damascus clip would look great! Just not sure if it would damage the knife where it screws in. Wouldn't damascus be less flexible putting too much pressure there? You guys are the experts so I would love to hear about that. I think I will solidify my opinion on the clip after a day of having it in my pocket. My main concern is that the blue might draw more attention then a plain clip so we'll see how it looks in pocket.

Brownshoe- Thats the beauty of "custom" if you ask me!

Not an expert, Jon....but damascus can be heat treated to spring temper, and adjusted to provide perfect tension....it will not be any less flexible than titanium if heat treated and tensioned properly....this is based upon experience.

If the clip is textured, it would seem that damascus would not be necessary.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

damascus clip, definitely. One of Don's strengths is the cool damascus he makes which is so unique. I don't know why you'd settle for cheap ti instead but that's just me.
It's a fine knife Jon and Don. I'd love to have a knife like that in my pocket.
