Hap40 Caly 3 ?

Just wondering why does it take so long to get a knife, which you really want?

If it's not the end that matters, but the journey, maybe it's not the knife that matters but the wait? Hmm... o_O

Is this knife really over 4 oz? The earlier Caly 3 G10 models are listed as 3.1 or 3 oz by Spyderco. The cf Caly 3 is just. Under 3 oz on my kitchen scale. The Large Lum is 5" closed and weighs 4.3 oz according to Spyderco.
I wonder if there is an error in the spec listing. None have appeared yet, so it is too soon to know.

No, no error. I asked this question when it was first announced. There was no reason given, but it was confirmed at 4 oz. That is why I did not pre-order it.

Doc, when & where did they confirm this is actually 4.1 oz as the catalog states? I've been watching the threads on here and the Spyderco Forum pretty closely since they announced this knife. I've never seen where the weight was confirmed. I've seen where the weight was questioned (rightfully so) but never any confirmation that it actually weighs 4.1 oz.

I'm still thinking it's an honest mistake in the catalog. The Native 5 G10 is listed at 3.7 oz and the Delica Pakkawood HAP40 is 3.0. I find it hard to believe this Caly would be 4.1 oz. I guess we'll find out...

I emailed them and then posted the reply from Christy at Tech Support. She said, "Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The 4.1 ounces is correct based on the Protoype sample measured. Once the actual production knife is received, the information will be updated."

Thanks for clarifying Doc! I'm hopeful the prototype was just overweight for whatever reason. Seems like a full ounce more than the previous G10 versions is a lot of extra weight. I'll remain hopeful that the production version is close in weight to the original Caly 3.

Like this much better than orange. I prefer to practice the gray man principle rather that the THIS GUY JUST PULLED OUT A KNIFE! principle. That said, I will get the orange HAP40 Meerkat.

I carry a CZ 75B SA that weighs 36 oz unloaded. I can't even feel a Gayle Bradley that weighs 5.2 oz. I hate to see you miss out on a great knife for one ounce.

I got a email from bladehq and knife center saying there were in stock today. I decided to get the cruwear para 3 instead. I have a delica in hap40 and want to try out cruwear.

Got my Caly 3 woohoo!! This is gonna be the fastest selling sprint ever I have a feeling.
