Winner, winner, chicken dinner... #78 LIAMSTRAIN

Sooooo.... I am turning the big "40" on April 9th, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than to give a knife away to the wonderful folks here on BladeForums. I will pick a winner via random.org on my B-Day April 9th.

Rules:

1) Must have at least 40 posts in the Traditional section by April 9th. Please make them useful posts so we all win.
2) International brethren are welcome. I just ask that you pay whatever USPS charges to ship to your country over the usual $5.25.
3) I like history so post "I'm in" along with an interesting piece of history that occurred on your birthday (just the day, not the year). This info should be easy enough to find on the interwebs. Feel free to post pictures of traditional knives as well. :D

Example: "Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to Union Army General Grant at Appomattox Court House on April 9th, 1865 effectively ending the American Civil War"

Prize:

Most of you know that I have an affinity for copper. So the prize is a brand spanking new KaBar Coppersmith Barlow.

Erik - My post is not an entry as I already have a Coppersmith Barlow and someone else should get an opportunity to win yours. I wanted to wish you an early 'happy birthday' though, and since I also enjoy history will share my birthday trivia.

May 20 (1927) – At 07:52 Charles Lindbergh takes off from Roosevelt Field in Long Island, New York on the world's first solo, non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean. He touched down at Le Bourget Field in Paris at 22:22 the next day.

Very generous GAW, and again, happy birthday! Good luck to everyone.

Very generous GAW Erik! I've been eying this copper barlow for awhile now, so I might as well enter. ;)
On my birthday in history Sept 15, In 1978, Ali defeated Spinks to regain the heavyweight boxing crown.
Now for some knife content..... 1 of my favorite knives, from Charlie's 1st SFO's made by Queen.

Thanks for the chance!

The first Lincoln head pennies were minted on my birthday in 1909. (And no, I wasn't around then!)

April 3rd, 1042, Edward the Confessor is crowned the King of England.

Thanks for the chance, that's a beautiful knife!

August 29th, 1925 - After a night on the town, Babe Ruth shows up late for batting practice. Miller Huggins suspends Ruth & slaps a $5,000 fine on him.

Happy Birthday.

Unrelated - if I remember the hustle odds right, we should end up with 2 posters having the same birthday date before we hit 30 posts.

Happy Birthday!

I was born in April as well, the 16th to be precise.

April 16th: 1908 – Natural Bridges National Monument is established in Utah.

That is a beautiful knife, thanks for doing the giveaway.

I too wish to share in an early happy birthday wish sir, with a non-entry piece of trivia....one which every Englishman should be proud of....

Aug 26th, 1346 – Hundred Years' War: the military supremacy of the English longbow over the French combination of crossbow and armoured knights is established at the Battle of Crécy.

"Come and get 'em Charlie!" :D

Happy Birthday Erik!
Very kind of you to do a GAW. I am new and don't qualify.
Interestingly 0n June 14th, 1937 Pennsylvania became the first and only state to celebrate Flag Day officially as a state holiday. A lot of knife makers were and are located in Pennsylvania.
Cheers to you and best of luck to all.

Happy Birthday, Eric! Thank you for all your contributions and pictures and may your birthday always be a special day in history.

I'm in on this one. Beautiful knife.

On Sept. 1, 1922: NYC law requires all "pool" rooms to change name to "billiards"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIK!!!

Awesome GAW my friend

I will pass as I am fortunate to own this great Barlow. However I have to play the event game.

March 23rd 1994 Wayne Gretzky sets NHL record with 802 goals scored
The man could score.

September 26, 1918 was the launch day of the battle of Argonne, involving which was decisive in ending World War 1. This battle resulted in 26,000 American soldiers, and 70,000 French soldiers deaths.
I hadn't read much about the battle of Argonne, mainly about Gallipoli which is the main battle we learn about in Australia. It's interesting seeing all of the different countries sides in World War 1.

This is a great idea for a giveaway. I could probably spend hours more reading about various wars, and historical events. Thankyou.

By the way, have a Happy Birthday!

Nice sir and a Very Happy Birthday to you sir!!!

Lets see, on January 31st, lots of things happened through the years, but in;

1950 - President Harry Truman publicly announces development of H-bomb

and 4 years later I was born, coincidence? I dunno ;)

And yep, that's a beautiful knife!, thanks for the chance,
G2
