I have no idea whether I'll make it to 40 posts in time but if I do I'm in.

The real reason I am posting is that my birthday falls on one of the most important dates in American History (at least in my opinion), D-Day! Really I just wanted to post that because it has always been special to me, the GAW is just a bonus.

I'm in, and happy birthday!

Not an entry thank you for such a generous GAW. I will participate in the event portion though.

March 1 1974: The indictments for the Watergate scandal were handed down.

Congratulations on the upcoming 40, my birthday falls on a great day, June 14th...

Following the suggestion of Colonel J Granville Leach (at the time historian of the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution), the Pennsylvania Society of Colonial Dames of America on April 25, 1893 adopted a resolution requesting the mayor of Philadelphia and all others in authority and all private citizens to display the Flag on June 14th. Leach went on to recommend that thereafter the day be known as 'Flag Day', and on that day, school children be assembled for appropriate exercises, with each child being given a small Flag.

So on my birthday for the last nearly 40 years I get up in the morning and hop on my motorcycle or when the weather was bad, the cage and do a tour of the neighborhood to see all the flags out out for my birthday. :)

Back in 2006 I was back in Hungary visiting family with my mom and my daughter during my birthday, I woke up to a snifter of cognac, an espresso and my cousin had the Hungarian and an American flag hung in my home for my birthday, the last time I had been back home in the 70s if they knew he had that flag he could have been hung as a traitor.

Btw I'm definitely in, thanks for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone.

September 15: 1830 - 1st person to be run over by a railroad train (William Huskisson, England). Thought this rather a comical tidbit from history.

I'm definitely in on this one. Seldom do these.

I'm in.

My birthday is March 20, and in 1760 something like 350 buildings burnt in the great fire of Boston. Cheery fact there.

Not an entry as I don't meet the criteria, but awesome GAW! Happy 40th man! Life starts to get pretty good about that age :D
