Happy Fourth All G-A

Vince,
The knife arrived today and I am still totally blown away by the neighborly and hospitable behavior on this Forum. Thank You and John for this huge showing of generosity. I will try to figure out how to post a picture of this beautiful slimline trapper that might possibly wind up being the "one" for me.

Thanks Again,
Grover Pope

Great knives guys and thanks again Vince.
I'm so excited about getting an actual John Lloyd, I've looked at his knives since Duncan started the "John Lloyd" thread.

This has been awesome and I'll be putting my knife to good use here on the farm.

Vince and all entrants and winners,

I was away battling demons and missed the GA.

As many others on this Forum, I have enjoyed the friendship, generosity, and goodwill of Vince, Scott and others of their group. Through Vince I have been introduced to John's work, and excellent craftsmanship.

I was moved to write his because my experience is slightly different. My grandfathers died as non-combatants on different sides in WWI.

My Father got on the boat speaking fluent Polish, German and Swedish. He got off the boat speaking English so fluently that no one ever thought to question his East Chicago, Indiana birth.

He instilled in me a love of this country as the most important, generous and welcoming place on earth. He had been to others that he did not like as much.

We both were cripples and never allowed to serve, but all of you for just being Scouts, Soldiers, Masons and regular Americans have earned our undying gratitude for allowing us to come and work in your great God Fearing country.

Sincerely,
Mike H.

When I got home today, there was a package waiting for me. My wife gave me a quizzical look when I said "I received a knife in a giveaway". My wife, not familiar with forums (and is the only one in our house who isn't on one or another) was surprised when I told her how I came to have this package. After I explained, she was kind enough to photograph my new knife for me.

Vince, thank you for an awesome knife. I've heard my fellow Scout leaders talk about their Old Timers and their Uncle Henry's with smiles on their faces, but other than the imported ones I bought for my sons (2010 BSA Commemorative lockbacks) I've never used one. I've seen them, sure, I watched our Troop committee chair sharpen up his Old Timer at camp last year until it went through paper like butter. But I never handled one until today.

Again, it's awesome, check it out:

My younger son looked at me as I opened it and asked me if it was sharp. I reached down, grabbed a piece of junk mail and with a quick movement cut it in half. He gets a kick out that (and so do I!)

This Schrade will be in my pocket or on my belt at summer camp in August. And when my fellow Scouters talk about their Uncle Henry's and Old Timers I can smile and show them mine, courtesy of a gentleman, his Scoutmaster wife and an Internet forum for knife collectors and hobbyists. I am sure that will generate quite a bit of conversation, and for that too I thank you.

Sincerely,
Griff

Griff,Use & enjoy  This GA contest was fun for me ,too

Just be safe Isaac, Good luck & Thank You for your service

Vince,

I spoke with Isaac by phone today and relayed your message to him.

He's still very excited about the knife, and looks forward to putting it to use (he left it here with me to have and hold while he's at OCS camp, with the stipulation that I not use it, mark it, create patina on it, smudge it, well, you get the idea...).

He also okayed my posting this training picture of him here (lifted from the USMC OCS web site), and asked me to thank you and Mr. Lloyd again.
