Has anyone bent the tip of their 9 ?

Usually they bend unless they are waaaay over stressed..... There is a point at which a wise person switches to an axe...... You obviously use your Nine and use it hard, which is good.....It is designed to be used....... I am curious as to how you were using it at the time..... Can you call me about Eight pm est at 423 295 2500?????? .......

Thanks....

I hate to say it but it was possibly bad technique. Please don't be offended. What were you battoning and did you find yourself in a stubborn piece of wood? While i am not against batonning and do it myself you have to listen to the wood and when it tells you to stop you need to stop. Were you fatigued and hitting at a funny angle? The 9 might baton like a beast but it is still a knife and can only be pounded on so hard. One does not have to spend too much time on youtube to see how many people are bad batonners. It seems like it would be so easy a cave man could do it but batonning like a caveman can also bend a knife.

I had my BK4 bent like Trailbum's 9 once and it bounced right back. But I also stopped once I noticed it bending like that and pulled it out. You gotta know when to move on to the next piece of wood.

I am not sure this is the issue and I am not laying blame. I am just trying to help us think this one through. :)

Edit: A minute late with my response. E is on the case... ;)

Ethan's care for his customers is why have bought and will continue to buy as many Becker knives as my wife will allow.:D

Bearfacekiller,

It is obviously operator error... That was never an issue.

I probably whacked it too far out on the tip. It wasnt bent very much and I didnt even notice it at first

I just wondered if anyone else bent a tip, bent it back and life was good :D

Now THAT's customer service right there!

Yes, E's the best!

IMO...
1) ya don't even know how it happened or saw it happen
2) you fixed it and it doesn't even look like it ever happened
3) it's had the piss used out of it and is holding up fantastic

I wouldn't sweat it.

Personally, I never would have even questioned it based on those 3 alone, not to mention the fact that it's admitted user error (which I would assume myself as well if it happened to me)
I'd be trying to figure out how I did it so I dont do it again!
