Has anyone seen this????? Benchmade 810 Contego

You just a tad late to the party!:D This promises to be a great knife from looking at the specs. Got a thick spined blade at .156", made of CPM M4 steel, a nearly 4" blade, the reverse tanto style I like so much, deep carry clip for tip up carry, man I could go on and on. This is why I have one on preorder. Benchmade doesn't produce a lot of big folders, but the recently released 275 Adamas is one, and the soon to be released 810 Contego promises to be one! I like it when BM goes big and uses the Axis Lock to boot!:)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this one. And it looks like street price will be about $130 which, all things considered, is a steal.

I put my preorder in the minute I heard about it, knifecenter has it listed as expected in march, and we are almost halfway through!

One thing though is that in the weeks before the adamas came out, we had pictures and some people had the LE black version early... but we don't have anything other than that one black serrated stock photo.

I hope they are still on schedule!

I preordered one too. I was going to hold out for a plain/black blade but went ahead and ordered a plain/clear blade. I hope it's early second quarter that they start shipping. Got mine for 121.12... ...less than 130 shipped from an online dealer, that's a pretty good deal for this knife. I'm hoping this will be a new favorite.

Better look at my post on the giveaway thread. I stated I would be getting the contego with that 50% off coupon:)

This was posted just now on another forum in an 810 thread:

My benchmade dealer here in Pa. Thinks the 810 Contego will be out in early April. He automatically gets at least 2 of every new knife that is released, and they have been behind on there shipping since the beginning of the year. Just like the rest of you guys, I can't wait to get my hands on it...Could be the new EDC,,,yeah buddy.

Beginning of april doesn't sound too bad...I suppose I could survive till then

Like the steel, the Axis lock, the blade thickness. Don't like "reverse tanto" blade shape. For the life of me, I don't get why ANYBODY really makes tanto blades, such a worthless blade-type at least for me personally.

How does that look anything like a tanto? It has a big belly and a strong tip. Reverse tanto is just a name aka marketing.

I like the price, and I LOVE the CPM M4 steel. Pretty much hate everything about the design, blade profile, handle shape and texturing look quite awkward, blade coating yuck, etc... But if you like the design, definitely pick it up to try the steel out. I've only tried Spyderco's CPM M4, but it is absolutely amazing, my favorite steel by far.

Very tough, Very wear resistant, despite not being "stainless" it resists staining quite well, etc...

looks like it will be a really good deal for what you get, but i think i would like it better if it looked a little more subtle. strikes me as a miniature klingon weapon with all the angles and curves. regardless, i'd still probably own one.
