Has anyone seen this????? Benchmade 810 Contego

The guys who work at my local knife shop are super stoked on this one. They bring it up every time I go in, it's probably their most anticipated release for this year. Personally, as a BeckerHead waiting on tweeners it's not as up there for me. Looks cool though, nice to see a BM with some contouring. Should make for some nice ergonomics.

I like the price, and I LOVE the CPM M4 steel. Pretty much hate everything about the design, blade profile, handle shape and texturing look quite awkward, blade coating yuck, etc...

The blade coating is Cerakote, a very durable material. I don't agree it sucks at all.

I hope BM is doing a better job of heat treating cpm 4 than they have in the past on cpm 4. I have a Gayle Bradley and a BM 760 both in cpm 4.

There's no comparision in how much better Spyderco does on their HT and how their cpm 4 cuts and holds an edge compared to BM IMO.

Like the steel, the Axis lock, the blade thickness. Don't like "reverse tanto" blade shape. For the life of me, I don't get why ANYBODY really makes tanto blades, such a worthless blade-type at least for me personally.

I'm not sure I understand this. It would be like saying that if I don't like clip points, I should not like karambit blades..

I've held the prototype for this knife and it is great with the ergonomics. It's very light around the handle, that might be a problem for someone who wants more of a feel like the BM Barrage. Overall, I wish that it was a beefier handle but I'm happy I pre-ordered this knife. I'm really liking the CPM-M4 blade steel!

Just got mine in from Knifeworks and let me tell you the blade, reverse tanto, coating are definitely a thing of beauty. The middle of the handle could use some work ergonomics wise other than that, fabulous! I havent tried the carbide breaker yet. =)

I want the plain edge satin finish one. I had it on pre-order but cancelled because I made some other purchases. I may have to make a trade for one of these. I was worried about the ergonomics so I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I should have kept the pre-order. Just checked them on a website and the site had previously quoted me for a much lower price than what they're selling for now.

Pics please, when you do :p

I was told this was a proto pic, in which case, it is kind of a dull scotchbrite almost beadblast look. It looks kind of like the rift satin blade

I have one on preorder and I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I ordered mine on St. Patricks day from www.KnifeWorks.com I got the knife for 45% off MSRP, $115. BR549 gets you 25% off plus they were offering an additional 5% off all purchases that weekend! The selling point on this knife was the HRC BM put into the M4 steel. I'm not into their other CPM-M4 blades at HRC 60-62. 63-65 is where I think it should be. My Spyderco Manix 2 in CPM-M4 is my current EDC & it is still shaving sharp after 2 months of everyday use. I will do an unboxing when I get mine so if you would like to see the video, here's my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/M0DiFiEDZ/videos Please Subscribe if you'd like to.
I will be uploading large HD pics to my Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/modifiedz/sets/72157628888248061/

Curious if anyone, in average usage, can tell the difference in 1 point on the HRC scale.

From steel type to perceived hardness. I think there's more ways to judge a knife.

Probably not, but most people on these forums could tell between 60-62 (original target) and 62-64 (new target)

Oh wow, I'm glad that the new hardness got brought to my attention by this thread. Looks like this might be my first BM purchase since my last one a couple of years ago.
