has anyone used these before, I get asked all the time about serrations.

it is 120 grit
Will you be happy with a 120grit finish?

it depends on the grit sharpness, i have a tormec and the 120 stone looks pretty fine. if it looks like that then i wont have a problem with it. I would like to see some pics of someone who has one though.

If someone is making lots of a dedicated model of knife with serrations (and having the blanks water-jet cut), then a tool like this and the equipment needed to operate it will probably be a real benefit. If you just make a few knives now and then, and don't repeat the same knife over and over, I think it will be less useful.

I'm not a knifekits.com fan, but that price is NOT expensive.

I got a quote a couple of years ago to have one made, and it was well over $500.

I'm guessing they got a discount for bulk, and had a bunch made.

If I remember correctly, Continental Diamond Tool, the company that quoted me, recommended around 4000 SFM, and wet, so 3820 RPM at the grinding wheel would be about right.

im with you brian i had priced them a long time ago and also saw about 500 $ i looked at getting 4 inch cutting disks and shapping them and then makein g an arber stack of 6 or 8 disks then i jsut gave up on the teeth for a while

I have to admit that when I saw this thread initially I was intrigued, and am also interested in how people like this product. My thought when I saw it initially was that it would create very toothy serrations, and it would be hard to smooth them out... but then it occurred to me I wasn't even sure smoothing them out was a good idea.

I hope someone who has this wheel posts and lets the rest of us know how they feel about it.
