Has the best knife already been created?

Nope, it hasn't. There is no such thing, as technology and metallurgy evolves constantly. (See Magnacut - Great Steel, Great Invention)
There are arguably "Great Knives" of the "Now" and the "Past" but none of them is the best.

"Best" can be both a subjective judgement and a measured quantity.

And yet, in my book, there is no universal "best" of anything. Sure, the properties of a finished knife can be quantified as "better" than another similar knife, but what that knife is used for may influence the judgement of its suitability for that task.

This applies to cameras (something I know about) and csars, and about anything else. A super slo-mo camera that can capture 10,000 frames per second is not suitable for wedding photography. A Chevy corvette C-8 or Ford GT can go faster than most other street legal cars, but neither can oick up six, eight year olds for soccer practice.

With all of Jay Leno’s super cars, I get a kick out of the average everyday cars that the family would drive, that met their needs and are just right for the job at hand. I liked one that had a 3 cylinder engine, or a French Citrion. But for some reason , Jay picked them up for either ingenuity or usefulness.

We took february off to travel and brought a CF Bugout, a SE Pacific Salt and a LM Wave. These arent my best knives but they are the knives i have with me and do everything I need.

No, wait !!! This is the best knife ! 🤣

As csars go, Peter was great and Ivan was terrible. IMHO, of course.

Ha ha, don’t forget the threaded barrel and 1.5lb trigger with 1.5mm reset, coming like this straight from the factory…
This gun did beat my G22 in improvised OTB test, I’ve being posting pictures here before but here is one just to get the idea…
30min in this water, both guns completely under the sand, slide locked back, empty mags in, rinsed only in the Gulf water, 5pm. Not rinsed more, taken to the range next day… Glock’s plastic trigger safety spring broke after the third round, this guy was keep shooting…:thumbsup:

Very nice! Is it an Elite model? SAO P226s other than Legions are uncommon. I've never seen one in the wild.

No, no Elite model. If I remember correctly, box said P226 X5 Tactical TB for threaded barrel.
Sort of Plain Jane, came with the sub moa target, but I did wait for it 7 months… 😂
beautiful, simple gun, very well built. Sharp as a mofo, everyone that shoots it calls it “cheater” ha ha ha 🤣
‘Absolutely love it, operates exactly as 1911, which I was looking for when order it long time ago.
‘Prefers Tyrant and 156gr Fiochi ammo, you can only hear the slide cycling 15’ away…:thumbsup:

The Buck lock-back 110 was a game changer when it came out in the easrly 1970s (?). That they have stsyed in production with only minor changes says a lot too.

A buck 110 was my EDC for years, well into the 1990s. Then my career path swerved from oil field to health care and a big heavy blade was just extra. Switched to a series of Leatherman multi-tools. Settled on the Wave as an at-work EDC in a hospital setting.

I didn't realize it was one of the X5 series! That makes sense now!

It's a good companion to the best knife created (see how I steered us back on topic? rhino is a helper!).

Sorry, but there ain't no way ya can baton with that thing. It'd probly do a number on a birthday cake, tho....
Just kidding, the Tut dagger is phenomenal. And Buster Warenski's 24kt gold reproduction is spectacular,
as well, if not as functional.

A cutting tool that uses directed energy, otherwise known as a light-saber, is not a knife.

And, finally, there is no best knife, just great, for the time.

My personal favorite EDC knife is the Spyderco PM2.as far as I’m concerned,it is the perfect design for an EDC folder.I wouldn’t change anything about it..I have nicer higher end knives but I’ve yet to find anything I would rather carry for EDC than a PM2
