Hatchet and Hawks

I'm really looking forward to the urban hawk. Have you considered a spike on the back and a prybar at the bottom? I have an ontario rd pick hawk, and I like the pick far more than I thought i would for moving wood around. I'd be interested in your spike hawk, but I want something differently shaped than the Ontario. Or at least the prybar bottom if you're definitely keeping the chisel tip back?

I got the prybar Idea from here.

Anyway, you make amazing stuff, thanks.

The bottom of the handle will be exposed, and will be chisel ground to use as a prybar. Thanks!

:thumbup: John, those are killer designs. I'm really looking forward to seeing the urban and the nessmuk. I can't wait for them to be finished.

John on that spike hawk? isn't it 7 inches w/ the longer spike for me and the normal one is 6 inches?

Yours is 7", I put the specs down for the standard model. One more thing, since yours is the first in the larger size, I stamped it with a 1 on the reverse side.

I thought I would try my idea for the sheath for the Urban Hawk. It`s designed to be worn slung over your body, using either paracord, or you can make a strap out of an old belt, attaching it with two Chicago screws (included). Just pop the two snaps and pull straight down. I`m thinking of offering this style as an option on the Spike Hawks.

Hi John -

That looks like a winner! I like the idea - a "necker" hawk!

Your leather bendin' has always been top notch in my book.

best regards -

That would be one heck of a neck sheath! It`s actually designed to be slung over your shoulder, and across your body.

Got up extra early so I could heat treat these babies before I have to run around today.

I bet it was nice to stay close to your forge on this fridgid morn.

Best

Hi John -

Yea - and that would work for hanging it on the wall too - I could make a small fixture and then slide the grommets over pins. The spike would stick up out of the top of course.

The spike could be covered too.
