Hats & Knives

I have no idea when or why I took a photo of this hat and knife, although the hat reminds me of the style and color hat my maternal grandfather wore as long as I can remember; that's probably why I bought the hat in the first place. But I noticed the pic in my "hats to be posted" folder, so I thought I might as well post it today so I can empty that folder.

The Pilbara is my work hat..
Interestingly and strangely Akubra imports bunny fur from France these days..
I read an article a few years back that akubra couldn't get the quality or numbers they needed so had to go off sure.

Wow -- that's great, meako meako ! How was it working with Keith?
It was a great weekend.
My eldest son had finished high school and was thinking about becoming a boilermaker. I organised with Keith for us to do his weekend knifesmithing course. It was just the 3 of us. Not far from where we lived in Wollongong. Then the NZ earthquake struck and I was called on to the taskforce...so had to postpone. Keith was great..taking us through every step...actually forging 2 blades...in case something went wrong...I finished the 2nd one years later. If I can get to the Sydney knife show again I'll say gday to him..

That must have been a great experience. Would love to do something like that one of these days. Looks like your knife has held up just fine over time, and it's nice that it brings back a good memory. 👍:)
