Have too vent.. Curious ways in which sales are handled lately..

Perhaps folks are posting on multiple forums and taking a better offer without fessing up ?

I have looked at postings of things I have purchased here and found identical items on four or five different sites.....

I don't know it that sounds rude of puts some people off, but the reason I did it was because of a GBU thread were the Seller refused to sell to buyer #1 and then buyer #1 got his buddy buyer #2 to buy it for him. Spark even weighed in on that thread.

Luckily, knock on wood, I haven't had any problems either buying or selling, but I feel like I have to be on alert, because of all the craziness going on lately in the GBU.

I have been using the "I reserve the right to sell to who ever I wish, for any reason I wish" for at least the past year.

I spend too much time in this part of the forum....!

I am not desperate to sell, I am much more interested in transactions that work for both parties.
 
Same goes for the members that say "I'll take it" and you don't hear from them for 2 days.
 
My buying experience here has been great. I post in the sales thread, "I'll take it"( or "I'll take XXXXX" if the thread lists multiple knives for sale individually), follow up with a VM, then usually have the knife in hand within a few days. That's been my experience every time here on BF.

Yup!!! Then a couple days later they start a whiny bitch thread here stating some BS excuse why they left seller hanging for 3 days.

^ I was really hoping for another Blackhawks vs. Kings playoff series. The Cubbies are off to an insane start. BTW- a good friend of mine, son, played college ball & is good friends with Kris Bryant. Bryant, is a class act, & had a monster season last year; so I've become some what of a Cubs fan. Michael Jordan, did pretty much the same thing: made me a huge Bulls fan. To this day, MJ is pretty much my favorite athlete, of all time!

As far as taking a break from knives go (retirement) ;): it has nothing to do with the topic that you brought up. To the contrary, I've just decided that it would be best for me personally, to refocus my time & energy into other areas of my life, that are much more important to me.

FWIW, Keith: this place has been a wonderful distraction; an awesome place to learn about knives! Some of the friendships that I've made here, have been pretty special. There are so many, super awesome guys here- the type guys that you know, you'd have a great time sharing a nice cold beer with, & shooting the breeze with. No regrets at all, spending 3 extremely positive years, enjoying this hobby...it's just time to move on.

My biggest dilemma right now, is deciding which knives I'm going to keep (I'm allowing myself to keep 10). :D

Tied with that are the e-mails that say "I'll get a money order out ASAP." After a week or more has gone by with nothing received, you send an e-mail to say "where's the money order," there's either no response or "I have to let it go, I'm just not efficient at sending money orders, I'm only efficient at Paypal."

+1 No word for days yet still active on the Forums. Last time this happened I sold it to the next guy and the first non-responsive buyer bitched about it.

I say "I'll Take It and will send payment upon confirmation". If I can't I tell them I'm at work and will send payment when I get home.
 
I try to let anyone know that the knife is sold if they asked about it .

That being said I have never posted who I sold the knife to in the thread ,or any other buyers for that matter .

One situation had one person known my buyer I know there would of been conflict between the buyer and a person wanting my knife .

Why is another seller obligated to justify not wanting to sell to you?

The point of this is the folks backing out of deals after the "Ill take it is Posted"
If I research someones track record and they have a BAD Rep of deals going south
I will pull my deal..
I feel everyone should do the same to protect themselves from getting burned
This is a fact of these transactions going on as of lately.

If anyone chooses not to deal with me.. A choice..I dont get uspset
ONLY if they communicate and be upfront..The silence of these dealings is the
thing that is unsettling


I NEVER stated I wouldnt sell to anyone..I simply state UPFRONT the terms..
I have never to this day..Backed out of any deal when a person has posted in my
sales thread..NOT 1 time.. I set up the terms to protect myself. And to be CRYSTAL CLEAR.
If I dont..It ends up here and the person seems to feel justified to whine.

I feel my 275 Positive feedbacks in dealings in here.. speak in volumes about my follow thru...

Thinking youre trying to get things riled up and off course Arskrg.. Its all good.
No harm no foul...
If my explaining myself is not fair too you.. I feel I did my best..
I did reply..

Also if you choose to have no dealings with me due too my terms..
Also no big deal...Too many knives..Not enough cash..and many others
to deal with..

More and more, the GBU has been hijacked by these whiny threads. There needs to be a new subforum of the GBU for these threads, maybe call it "The Sewing Circle". People need to get over themselves, and stop clogging up the useful information in this forum with their own little pity parties. The self-importance and entitlement is ridiculous. On another note, you are not a sober person, gizmoman. There's a lot more to sobriety than not using. Your posts on this forum are a perfect example of a "dry drunk".

You simply need take what you need and leave the rest.
Been sober going on 12 years and meetings weekly--Proud of climbing out of the bottle..Not that I have to justify my sobriety to you in the least..

I guess you have a right to you opinion..So does "CrayTab"..Now thats calling the kettle black..

My comments have not isolated anyone nor pointed fingers..its been a blanket observation..

I wasn't trying to stir things up, just noticed your post and didn't see how it reconciled with what I've seen in your own sale threads.
Honestly, it's still unclear.
I can't see why you hold the exclusive right to sell to whoever you want and withdraw without having to justify it.
Why is that your right and no one else's?

Maybe some small, naïve part of me expected something like, "Huh, you know, I can kind of see what you're saying there."
Silly me, I must've forgotten I was on the internet.

We all as members have a right
To sell to whom ever we wish
Perhaps read the rules
Hoping that clears up you being unclear
 
So then why start a thread complaining that others have exercised that right?
That's the part that I find confusing.
