Have you bought your last knife??

I try not to fool myself into reasoning I don't need anymore knives. I'm aware of my addiction and really enjoy the process of getting new knives. I've got enough knives to last several lifetimes, I mean, how can anyone pass up a LH double lug Sebenza Diamond Plate?????, certainly not I.

I couldn't get the grin off my face as I read through these replies. I am definitely among like minds. Combining the most common tread, I have to admit, I haven't bought my last knife. As several have pointed out, the more I learned about knives (folders in particular) the more I have raised the bar. I hadn't given much thought to my obsession until I created an inventory list and then attached a price to each purchase. It was then that it hit me; OMG!! I've spent 8k on folders in a little more than a year.
Agreeing with what many have pointed out, I am more selective now and can at least admit I have to slow it down. Having said that, I still ordered a Spyderco Sage 1 CF and Spyderco Cat a day prior to ordering the Andre Thorburn last night. The rush and intensity on Again! :)

As with most hobbies and in life, the hunt and the anticipation is often the most fun. Wouldn't it be sad for there to be an end?

Hi. My name is Terry. I'm addicted to buying knives. My last knife purchase was, uh, today. *sigh*

As far as my price range goes, I just spent the most I've ever spent on a knife, my Survive GSO 4.1, but I try to stay under the one Benjamin mark. Right now I can't find anything in my price range that I really like that's cheap. My passion is for fixed blades, I only have a couple folders so the search continues.

Funny someone should bring this subject up.

I think I may actually be done.

For one thing, there aren't too many knives that interest me anymore.

There a few customs that sound fun, but certainly not fun enough to spend $1000 or more.

I have most of the premium brands, Strider, CRK, Hinderer, ect. , so I know what they're all about.

I like unique designs and there aren't too many of those coming out lately. (The Lionspy TiDust is way cool, way expensive too.)

There seems to be a whole lot of plain slab sided ti-framelocks out right now. They are just boring to me, seen one you've seen 'em all.

I've actually bought several older designs lately, BM MPR for example, just because they are different, and I missed out on them when they were new.

I've been sort of doing a last hurrah lately in my knife buying, getting knives I always wanted but never bought, or just making sure I have the iconic designs.

I always wanted, but never had, a Buck 110, so I ordered one from the Buck custom shop. Meh, glad they don't make 'em like that anymore! I am glad I have one in my collection though just to represent the ground breaking design.

I have a Ruby coming because it is a somewhat special knife. I also have a Martin MCE2 on the way. I always wanted a Lile Rambo and these are close enough for me. Better materials and HH design than the original Lile too. Still looks badass after all these years.

I also have an, ehem, HTM Madd Maxx 7 coming, JUST BECAUSE! Can't stop collecting unless you have the biggest damn folder made right? (I know al about CS Espadas. No thanks)

Othewise, unless something really new and different comes out this next year, I'm probably done.

I keep a spreadsheet of my knives with information about size, weight, Blade steel, and cost, (both the price I paid at the time and what they go for now if they are still in production), etc, etc.

Not counting knives I had growing up, or before I really started collecting knives, I have around 100. The average cost, in current retail, is $195. Some are much less and some much, much higher.

I have a few cheapo's, but most are pretty nice. I've carried and used every one.

Maybe its time to stop and just enjoy what I have. I'll keep my eye out for a few hard to get models that I've wanted and maybe snag one if I get the chance.

Last knife! Are you crazy? I can understand slowing it down, or even having to go for long periods of time without adding a knife to my collection, but to think no more ever - that's a sad thought.

There's a few that I really want to pick up, but if I ever bough a full stealth MSC SJ75, I'd probably call it quits. That would be the game stopper for me.

First post but I've been following all the interesting conversations for several months. It’s a relief to hear from people who are also fascinated with knives. While some of my friends and work acquaintances may have a knife or two, they don’t share the same attraction or in my case desire to buy more. After 30 or more knife purchases I always say, ok this is it, I’m done now; before I realize it I’m hot to buy another cool looking knife. I call it a hobby, but feeling like it’s an addiction. Beginning with trolling websites and YouTube Reviews to placing the order, tracking the shipping and waiting for the USPS to arrive, it’s a rush!! So I am attempting to commit to my final purchase. Last night I finally located and purchased an Andre Thorburn L51 CF, w/blue liners to add to an already nice collection. I’m done! Again!
So what keeps your interest after you stop buying, reading, net surfing, knife maintenance, foundling and flipping?

Take up knife making....that'll slow down your buying if you start cheaply. There are worse things to be addicted to.

Years and years ago I bought a CRKT Voodoo off of the snap on truck and didnt buy a new knife until that ones torsion bar broke, then just carried that broken one for a little bit until I found another Voodoo on ebay and carried that one until the torsion bar broke again. Had it not broke, Id likely not have bought another folder.
After the second one broke, I thought to hell with folders, and started carrying a small fixed blade (bk14) until I got a job where they were kinda iffy with carrying fixed blades, so I got a Kershaw Zing SS, cuz it reminded me of my Voodoo kinda.
Bought a lot of knives since looking for the same connection I had with my Voodoo or BK14.

I ordered my Christmas present knife last weekend. Not everyone's cup of tea but it was the Schatt & Morgan Gunstock (4.25" closed). Then today I visited Cabelas for my very first time. I wanted to look at the Buck made Alaskan Guide series, Vanguard with the wood handle. Beautiful knife. Bought it. Like I need it... I noticed there is a rubber handled version now too.

Just slowed down...

My new ZT 0561 pretty much stunned me, so I'm in shock right now...

Last knife? Nope. As my lifestyle has changed, so has the way I use a blade. It is reasonable to assume the type of knife I needed in the past is not the same as needed now. So, new knives are on the horizon. I can see a couple of fixed blades in my near future.
