Have you ever handed over your blade to help a stranger?

Last time this topic came up - someone here said they gave their knife to a girl who started scraping gum off the concrete floor... That's what I always think about when someone asks me for my knife. (or the time I lent my multitool to my bassist - he PRIED with the Philips head and broke it off!)

Pried with the Phillips head...wow. It seems he has no concept of how to use those tools.
Its amazing people like that are allowed to drive 4,000 pound vehicles around in public.
 
I once lent a trusted friend my brand new BM 940. We were on a long weekend shore fishing/camping/drinking weekend (about 25 people). He needed to dice shallots for the hollandaise and lost track of it.

I found it two days later on a log - encased in dried sauce and ...cheese? Two days later - soaking and spraying with WD it was like brand new. It's been a favorite EDC ever since.

NEVER AGAIN!
 
I suspect that we all have loaned knives to other people (friends, acquaintances, and sometimes strangers). Most times, there isn't a problem, but that one time someone treats your expensive knife like a screw driver, you think twice about loaning from that point forward.
