Have you ever made a FIND?

Nope, but my fantasies revolve around a lemonade stand,a pitcher of lemonade and a Loveless stirrer! :D

What originally got me into knives....my uncle passed away and my other reatives picked throgh his things. When all was said and done I was handed a small box of knives. What was inside a random pouch amidst production knives? A Joe Kious slipjoint made about 1970 that had never been used. No idea where he got it or how!

In 1976 I traded a Harrington & Richards 32 cal revolver with a cillinder timing problem for a SOG bowie. The vet told me he had carried this knife "in country". O.K...I just liked the knife. A couple years later I brought the knife to a show and got three offers ranging from $1200 to$1500!!. I still have it today and expect I always will. Best dumb luck deal I've ever made.

I have Don Fogg's very first knife... damascus blade, brass fittings, old deer antler for both handle and sheath. Not quite up to his current standards, but that lad seems to have learned a lot over the years!

HOHOHOHOHO!!!!

Will do, Joss. I'll have to find it first. I think I know which quadrant of the Fikesian universe it's located, so the search should take less than a week.

I have a very cool early Kemal (Don Fogg + Murad Sayen) that I picked up on eBay 3 yrs ago for a very reasonable price. It has their old mark, the double-bladed axe. You don't see that mark very often, I don't think they used it long. It's somewhere on Don's site, I know.

The handle is walnut and the fittings and escucheon are silver (sterling I suppose).

I bought a Brend #2 with a 12 inch blade in the sheath at a local gun show here in town for $300. Traded it for one of the two Brend custom Talon folders he made with Damascus blades.

I find lots of older production stuff at gun shows that I sell on eBay for three times what I pay for them, Buck Kalinga's, Russel Sting's, 70-80's Browning sheath knives, vintage stag Puma's, 80's Benchmade Bali's. I Have bought at least four Big Buck 184's for under $50 that sold on eBay for $200 plus. Its a fun hobby and you dont need alot of cash.

Picked up a pair of new-in-box Al Mar micarta-handled fighters for $60 for the pair (after tax) in a local pawn shop. Turned around and ebayed 'em for a bit over $400. A local yard sale netted me a Vascowear Gerber Sportsman folder (new in box w/scabbard) for a hefty $30. That one went to a Japanese collector for around $400. I love the 'hunt'.

A shoebox fulla early 60's Randall and Sequine knives for a song, including a Tenite #15...won't say what I paid though, as some of the guys reading here that bought a few of them might come skin me alive...lol

'Happened to a friend' story, a friend that reads here and would probably prefer to ramain nameless...found a Loveless 'Delaware Maid' camp knife in a local antique store recently, and purchased it for $30...

Bought a Griptilian at a flea market for about 25 bucks. Got a Schrade one blade slipjoint at Walmart for 2 bucks. Other than that, I haven't gotten any good deals, other than a Camillus PSK that started me on the path to good productions.

Well, Let,s See! A trazola fighter in a pawn shop for 25, bucks. 2 Kit Carson's for 20.00 each, an early Gerber Sportsman, for 45.oo, three beachmade barry woods folders, 20.00 each. a gentelmans pocket knife with beautiful sterling scales, made in the late 1800's by IXL. given to me when I left the sherriffs dept. The best, but worst for me is a stagg handle Loveless Drop Point, in a Belton Texas Gun Show. 125.00 The bad part is that it was found by Bob Loveless's partner, Jim Merritt, while visiting family in Texas. what's worse, is that we were both at the same tiny, show and I didn't even see him or the knife. AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
