Im just posting this to find out about whether many other have found that one knife that will always be their favourite. Even if its not the most expensive or the prettiest.

For me it would be the boker plus vox rhino(stag handles and leather sheath). Every time i use this knife im always happy i bought it, and i always regret when i choose another knife over it for the day.

So has anyone else found "their" knife

I'm not sure if I'll truly find "The One", but at least right now, it's the Benchmade 810 Contego. For me it's the perfect knife. Large, strong, M4 is my favorite blade steel, extremely sharp and up to almost any chore that I could give it. Keep in mind that I live in the city and engage in absolutely NO bushcraft type activities, so for my needs, the 810 is "The One".

could be any of my 5 knives. they all look good and feel good imo but most important i need it to cut and if it cuts and performs the task at hand than that's the knife.

For me I haven't found it yet. But I usually carry a ti military, or if I am going to the woods a bring a blem 0300. I have a few more blades but I carry them infrequently. I have a division flipper coming in today so I hope that's the one lol

I dont think there is such a thing as "the one" in this collection habit ;) There will always be the next great knife steel or blade shape or handle or locking.....etc!! This is an addiction much like a woman buys shoes or handbags :) We buy knives!!! more is
good or we "consolidate" which is just an excuse to BUY MORE KNIVES :) in the search for "the one". Anyways, I have fun chasing "the one" and enjoy the hunt.

I've never found it, and I've tried really hard. The closest I've come is a large Sebenza and Umnumzaan. I carry the Zaan. Awfully hard to beat, but I keep looking. Going to try a VECP one of these days; should be decent.
The Holy Grail is what keeps us going...Don't find it, or you're dead in the water.
:)

I think, for me, "the knife" now is the 3" Hinderer I picked up not too long ago. 3" Slicer, no flipper, stonewash blade, sand blasted Ti and Clip, brown frag scale.

That is the best for my purposes. I love the stonewashed blade for a user because its forgiving. But I like the blasted Ti and Clip because when that's stonewashed it really stands out on my pocket. My old 3" hinderer that was all stonewashed got more unwanted attention than any other knife. The ol' "is that a pocket knife?" "why are you carrying a weapon around?" and the dreaded "can I see it?" happened with that one more than any other I've had (including the big ZT0550 nobody bothered with). I much prefer the sand blasted Ti side.

And I've had two 3" flippers and for the at that size the flipper just seems to get in the way for me. So a non-flipper is working perfectly.

My lil' knife is perfection in a folder for what I want and need.

A close second place would be my new Small Starbenza for many of the same aforementioned reasons PLUS the simplicity factor in taking apart and reassembling to maintain.

However, that being said, I have several capable knives which are worth half as much and I'm not opposed to selling either of the above if times got tough. But those two seem to be a winning combo for me right now.

For the last few years I've had a different knife every few weeks and no particular attachment to any one.

Then, a few months ago, I got my first Al Mar SERE 2000. It got 5 or so weeks of pocket time, until I finally scored a Para2 after hunting for weeks to find one. That was a couple months ago, and I still have the Para2 in my pocket.

My next knife will be a Chris Reeve folder, but it will take me a long time to save the 'fun money' to drop $500 on a folder. I'm betting the Para2 will be "the knife" for a long time to come.

For me, it's the Sebenza 25. No questions asked. In fact, I feel I don't need any more. I would like to add a Microtech Ultratech to my collection, but not for use. The 25 does everything I need it to, and more.

I keep going back to my Endura and Paramilitary 2. However, i'm beginning to get into mid-techs and customs so it may change soon

Not sure if it is "THE" knife, but certainly up there on my list...

Spyderco Gayle Bradley. I'm just enamored with this knife. Its too heavy to take to work with me though, so it sits at home while my BM 530 is in my pocket.

Not sure if I wil ever find "the" knife but my new ZT 0550 gen 2 comes as close as I think I'll get.

Benchmade 950 Rift. Super smooth opening, love the blade shape, handle is excellent, carries just right in the pocket, and the balance in my hand is just about perfect. Benchmade put an excellent edge on it, slices like a light saber.

Oh man.

I thought I had The Knife when I got my BM 940.
Then with my Spyderco Caly 3 CF.
Once again with the Zulu.
Then again when I got my BM 530 CF.
Recently I thought I got The Knife; my manual Microtech Amphibian.
I just paid off a ZT 560CBCF, which is just awesome.

They all get a fair amount of pocket time, but the Caly 3 CF gets the most by a wide margin now that I'm back in school.

I guess I don't really have a favorite knife, just a bunch of knives I wish I could carry all at once conveniently!

For those who've wanted one, now is a good time to buy an XM. I saw a 4th Gen XM-24 LNIB going for $600 recently, and an XM-18 for $550. My favorite knife at the moment is the Spyderco Southard, but it's like a song that you play all the time. No matter how good it is, it's good to change off and appreciate what else you have. My favorite inexpensive knife is the American Tanto Zing. The only think I'm not crazy about is that cheap handle stuff, but replacing it with G10 would make a very fine little flipper.
