have you found "the" knife yet?

I don't think I'll ever find "the one" but I know my BM 710 will never leave my collection. Its tough, gorgeous, buttery smooth, feels great in hand, and is compact and lightweight for its size. I would love to get my hands on an M390 version.

The Izula 2 for me. I love that thing. It's the one knife I'll carry with no actual intent on using it. I just like it. :D

I was able to handle someone's Gareth Bull custom over a year ago at NYCKS, and although I also handled other grail-type customs and high-end mid techs there, that knife has remained at the top of my list ever since. Balance, fit and finish, ergos, and the non-conventional way of deploying the blade all make it very close to "the one" for me. I think it was an SA Hunter, although I can imagine his Warlock and Shamwari models evoking the same feeling in-hand. That effortless glide when the blade swings open, the crisp click as the lock sets the blade, the clean and thin working grind, the fumble-free access to release the lock bar, the snug nesting of the detent ball that seems to just suck the blade closed...you know what I mean.

Although I haven't handled one personally, I always ask people about their Peter Rassenti Druid, and I always get glowing responses from their owners. That Wharncliffe integral has also secured a spot in my short list of top knives even though I haven't touched one.

Like most here it always is the lastedt one, first the grayman dua, then the spyderco mili, now strider sng of course it would be the most expensive one...:)

Yup, and I carry it everyday. I'm still wanting more knives though.

So far, I only have 9 or 10 by now, it is without question my Rockstead Chi.
There are a few more on the way, so who knows, it might change:)

For every day carry I most certainly have.
Victorinox Fieldmaster.

But I'm still keeping my eyes open for a sturdy work knife to use and abuse in the yard.

folder or fixed? if you're looking for a folder to abuse, it's not going to be a folder for very long. :D

Yup, G-10 Endura 4. After years of EDC, I went through about a 1/2 dozen looking for a replacement a couple years ago, and could not find anything I liked better. *including a Sebenza*

Still keep an eye out, but nothing trips.

If I had to guess, I'd say that I've found "The Knife" probably about about 15-20 times...hence the reason I keep buying more.

I know so it has to be cheap.

It has to be a folder. I really can't go walking around with a fixed blade strapped to my belt. I would look like a dangerous idiot.

I'm currently in love with the Southard. I've bought a couple of dozen knives since getting it, some quite a bit more expensive, but at the moment this is the knife that rises above the rest for me on a daily basis:

That said, I'll always own some of my favorite Benchmade models (e.g. 940, 710, etc.) and I've fallen deeply in like with a few other knives (e.g. ZT 0801). I'm pretty into my William Henry knives as well. Who knows, though--maybe I'll get my hands on a Southard custom or something and fall in love with that.

I do know this, though. I don't usually buy multiples of knives, but I'm looking for decent deals on backup Southards and wouldn't mind having a couple to spare for some reason.

flipping isn't any better. :D

If you mean by flipping, flipping a knife open one handed.
No, I found that out by getting scared surprised looks and remarks.

Hence the Victorinox. (which happens to be ten times as useful to me as a single blade knife as well for edc)
But for yard work I want something sturdier with a lock.

I haven't found the knife yet, but I have found classes of knives. Ti Framelocks with 3" blades and really surprising slipjoint for EDC carry!!! The super thin blade on the slipjoint is better than ANY flat grind blade out there for slicing up stuff in non hard use situations which are basically all situations where I use an EDC.

I've had a lot of nice knives, but recently downsized my collection to only just a few of my absolute favorites. The one that I've been carrying and using for the longest now is my xm18 3.5 full Ti spanto. I usually get sick of knives pretty quickly and will be tempted to rotate, but even after 6 whopping months I still fondle/admire it constantly. I think that is "the one" for me.

For me I haven't found it yet. But I usually carry a ti military, or if I am going to the woods a bring a blem 0300. I have a few more blades but I carry them infrequently. I have a division flipper coming in today so I hope that's the one lol
Please post a pic when it comes in, I'm a huge fan of this knife - got one arriving in about a week. Which blade finish were you able to get?

I usually think the newest is "The One". Recently it has been a Benchmade Contego in CPM M-4, then it was my Spyderco Military in S90V, but then it arrived..... "The Beast". My XM-24 arrived. Holy mother of Jebus!! This one is bad a$$ !!

My collection is decent. I have everything from VG-10 to M390 to S90V, and they all have their place. "The Beast" is just in a different league. Calling the XM-24 a knife is like calling a 150 pound Bullmastiff a "dog". It feels like I'm swinging open a vault door. The crazy thing is I was not a Hinderer fan boy before. I tried in vain to love my XM-18 3.5 Spanto, I just couldn't do it. Nothing wrong with it, it just didn't fit me. I figured I would try the next step up. I am super glad I did.

I think I have "The One"...... But wait, I don't have a....yet. ;-)
