Have you Guys checked the Camillus website lately???

That is not the Camillus Factory!!

Camillus Outdoors is, I believe, a different Co.

Camillus Knives may be gone but the 18-XRAY Auto lives on with a new company, Camillus Outdoors... Other Camillus Darrel Ralph Designed knives such as the Cuda Maxx, Dominator, EDC, Aftermath and others are on the table to be put back on the market if we find that YOU want them.

It looks like he has hooked up with a manufacturer. Ever heard of Briar Industries in Galena, Ohio? Now, where is Jerry Fisk and ... Ethan? Shouldn't all licensing and assignment of patents and designs now revert to the inventors? Phil? Can you renew you patents now with maintenance fees, or is it not that simple? Licensing is in a sense "renting", and the renter has defaulted on the contract.

If only life was that simple Codger! :barf:
That may be true, eventually, for the designers with a license.
My Patents were assigned. They are now assets of the Company. If I paid the maintenence fees I would merely be paying someone elses bill.

At least when they expire prematurely I get to use my own designs again!

Unless a buyer of the I.P. renews them? Interesting to note how few of the Imperial Schrade trademarks TBLLC has renewed. Many of them are up for grabs! And many of the patents expired quite a few years ago.

Once the maintenance payment window is missed, the patents automatically expire & the design enters the public domain.
Nothing the new buyer of the IP does can reverse this process.
Perhaps part of the reason there is no new buyer yet?

Very interesting Phil, thanks for the tip. So, is that similar to what happened to Marble's? i thought Marble's was originally the Marble's Safety Axe Company, and now I see a Marble's Outdoors out there. i know Marble's had been re-organized or something not too long ago, but I didn't follow what happened there.

I can only dream that Mr. Becker would somehow collaborate with Mr. Ralph to resurrect the BK&T line. I'm pretty sure that won't happen, but we'll see where and how far Camillus Outdoors goes.

I was curious about the stamp on the picture of the Heat folder. Are my eyes playing tricks, or does that look like "Ontario"?

But that knife is not a Heat!
It has a safety on it like the Remington Swift Lok 2.0. :jerkit: :D

Knifecenter is selling the new Ontario labeled Robo series knives. No mention of where they are made. They are still showing the Camillus knives as the images though.

This is the Ontario Version of the Heat. They were planing on coming out with the model with the safety lock (this knife is available now), and the same model with out the safety lock (coming soon possibly??).

Here is the real kicker; The new company "Camillus Blades" will have the new Camillus Heat in a couple of months, here is a run down;

Heat plain blade - In the black and satin blades
Heat serrated blade - In the black and satin blades
Heat Tanto plain black
Heat Tanto serrated black

Blaze plain blade - In the black and satin blades
Blaze serrated blade - In the black and satin blades
Blaze Tanto plain black (new)
Blaze Tanto serrated black (new)

The steel has been changed from AUS 8 to 440C

The next generation Camillus Heat knife will have a built in LED light. The next generation will follow the above mentioned knives.

Also keep your eyes open for the 18 XRAY automatic.

Camillus Blades will be going places, Vinny knows what he's doing, he'll fine tune the company and have it running like a jet engine before long.

I will be happy to answer any questions about the knives. If I don't have the answer I'll go to the source (the owner of Camillus Blades) and get the correct answer.

Made in Taiwan, not China.
The Camillus Heat series were always imported from Taiwan.

The Ontario ones are NOT 440C. They are left over AUS-8 Camillus blades remarked Ontario. For now, at least..............
