Have you Guys checked the Camillus website lately???

look at the add at knifeoutlet-it says -CHINA

quote-

3 1/2" AUS-8 stainless clip blade with Robo assisted opening feature, 4 1/2" closed, black Zytel handle, locking liner, reversible pocket clip. China. Available with plain or partially serrated edge. Choose model below.

Their copy is wrong!

It is made in Taiwan, I specified the Purhase Orders after visiting the factory in Taiwan. Ontario has bought a few since the Camillus Colapse.

The Ontario supply should dry up quickly.

So,does anyone know if the Ontario Heat come with a sheath in the box

So are they going to be 440C made in Taiwan?

I anticipate they will remain AUS 8.
I do not think Ontario will be the vendor for much longer.

Razorburn, to my knowledge no sheath is included with the Ontario marked knives. Do they even come with a box? Has anyone seen the Ontario packaging?

Doesn't really matters. Sorry to say this, but the sheath I got with my Camillus Heat wasn't really good. I moved the knife to my pocket quite fast.

Still, that knife had more pocket time than any other I owned.

I hope thay continue production of the EDC, I would like to retire my original one now that it is out of production.

The new Camillus Heat knives (from Camillus Blades) will be 440C and will not be made in Taiwan. They should hit the market in about 5 or 6 weeks.

The Ontario Heat knives come in a white box, no markings. I... uh... some people that sell them add a black nylon belt sheath.

The Ontario Heat knives are very nice knives well made. They do not have the word "HEAT" on them but they function like the Heat knife, solid knife.

As for the new Camillus Heat knife that is going to be released, it is not made in Taiwan or China. I was told what country is manufacturing the knife but it has slipped my memory. I'll ask again Monday. The steel is 440C.

Tom,thanks for the info.It was a good thing that I decided earlier this week to order a Camillus Heat from you with the sheath and the Camillus box at a reasonable $29.99ea.
It's sad to hear that the new Ontario Heats are going to be 440C.

I'm also disappointed by the switch to 440C. The AUS8 was an ideal choice for this knife. I'd rather have 440A or 420HC with a decent heat treatment than 440C.

Fortunately, I still have my original from a few years ago, plus a few "spares" I ordered from CRKS recently. ;)

I will concur with Phil that The knifeoutlet has some information wrong. The knife is made in Taiwan. Also (not mentioned before) the Ontario version does not have a ambidextrous pocket clip, this may be due to the safety lock on the opposing side.

Also to clear thing up a little The Ontario version is and will continue to be made out of the AUS8 steel. The new Camillus version will be made from the 440C.

Phil may be able to add some insight about the the steel quality; in a thread a few months ago I believe it was stated the AUS8 and 440C were very close in quality with 440C having the upper advantage. Also I think 440C is an American steel and Aus8 is the Japanese version of the 440C.

This is a very nice knife, it got allot of attention at the show last weekend. I carry the 2334 Heat for an EDC. If anything happened to it I wouldn't hesitate to throw the Ontario version in my pocket for an EDC.

Tom.

Who is telling you the "New Camillus" version will be 440C?
They are clearly mistaken.

Phil,

Vinny has the name Camillus Blades. He has the contract on the new Camillus Robo knives. He told me that they are in production now and I will be getting them in a month or so. He also told me they were changing the steel to 440C. I talk to Vinny a couple time a week, he seems to have a good handle on what is going on.

Also, Vinny (Camillus Blades) has the 18 X-RAY in production.
