Man that turned out nice! I like the firesteel notch on the spine, looks cool, and is a neat idea.

I'm jealous of that sweet hawk too!

Most of the stuff here makes me feel shabby about my gear but what the hell.

Basic rifleman's hawk re-profiled by hand with coarse paper and cleaned up a little with 150 grit, and a fine grit dremel tip,

Thanks Guys,
Triquetra, that leather is re-used from an old hang up clothing bag and I hardened it with a medieval technique called “cuirboilli” or water hardening. Then it got a finish of dirt, grease and beeswax. The twisted fringe is the welt.
Thanks Howard, this set has been laying around a while, but it's the only combo I still have. You can read more about it here;

Thanks Randy,
The additional info was good. I don't have your talent or the facilities to forge knives or hawks like you. However, I plan on modifying a Cold Steel hawk in the near future and try to make a sheath for it. You are a bad influence.

Thanks. I really like the look, I think that I'm going to give it a try.

while not as high end as some of the other combos seen in this thread this set works exceptionally for every task i've thrown at it. the knife has been bouncing around on my hip through the woods, swamps, brush, and a few urban toilets for at least 10 years. the "throwing axe" has been with me for 4-5 years through the same spots and then some. the axe has also doubled as a demo tool on a few remodeling job sites and was a staple tool on 1 job where we completely gutted a house.

the knife is an old hickory butcher knife i snagged at a flea market many many years ago. my mother in her infinite wisdom mistook it for a pry bar at some point and broke the front 2 inches of blade off so i ground i cut and ground it down to it's current configuration and put it to work as a general purpose outdoor knife. the axe is a firestone throwing axe i ordered off the net as soon as i laid eyes on it because i wanted something a little different from all the other hatchets and hawks i'd seen.

Golden Bacon,

It's Daniel Winkler's Sayoc axe without spike. Co-designed by R.Kayanan and Winkler with jungle camo finish.
